will Lucas Matthysse ever win a World Title?
will he ever be a World Champion?

He's been a pro for 8 years now, with 34 pro fights?? and still has not won a world title?:think

He's now in line to fight the winner of Khan v Garcia, but neither of them will traded toe-to-toe the way Soto did, so they will outbox Matthysse.

    :think

I doubt he will ever be world champion, cause, even though he's the hardest puncher in the 140lbs division and is very strong, he lacks good boxing skills, and the 140lbs champions will outbox him good.

I see Lucas Matthysse as the Ernie Shavers (the hardest punching Heavyweight that never won a HW world title cause he was outboxed) of the 140lbs division.

Lucas Matthysse said that he will not cut off his ponytail until he wins one. I think he will eventually win one.

I honestly dont think he can a win a World title.

the 140lb champions are good, and he wont find a burned-out old champion like Soto that will stand flat-footed and willingly trade with him.

the 140lbs champions have good stick-n-move boxing skills, and will give Matthysse problems in their title fights.

I believe Matthysse will get a few opportunities to fight for the 140lbs World Titles, but I doubt he will win any.

I see Matthysse, as being the Ernie Shavers of the 140lbs division.

The thing about Matthysse is that he always overcome any situation. He's still considered undefeated in my book.

Im not bitter, and am infact happy that Soto got KO'd, because Im sick and tired of seeing fight in low-gear, by "playing possum" with his opponents so he can lure the big names (Pac, JMM, etc.) into fighting him and not ducking him.

But, Soto's "playing possum" plan against Matthysse bakcfired, cause he got hurt with a bodypunch, and Matthysse capatilized with head shots.
Maybe this will teach Soto a lesson, to stop playing dumb in the ring, and not give away rounds, like he's done so many times in the past.

    ,,,

But the subject matter of this thread, is can Matthysse really become a World Champion???
because I dont think he can, with that brute strength alone, because the 140lbs champion know how to hit-n-move, are not 70 pro fight veterans like Soto is, and will not stand toe-to-toe against Matthysse.

thats why I cant see Matthysse winning a world title, with today's 140lbs champion.

The 140 division is all confused

Most fighters have moved up a division and or will move within the next year.

WBA and IBF = with Peterson. He's not fighting anytime soon. Seems like he gone in hiding like Bin Laden.

WBO = Timid Timmy (when was the last time he defended this? 2010?)

WBC = Garcia got the nod over a Faded Ring Legend Morales.

Marcos fighting nobodies and racking his KO %. WBA is stupid; who did he beat to win the WBA regular/interim post 2010?

Lucas is undefeated in my eyes. He needs a good manager.

I will never count him out because of his power, if he got the win against Judah he would of beat Mabuza for the IBF title, also if he got the fight with Morales when he was WBC champ I would have backed Matttyse to win.

Soto had an off-night when he fought Lucas, plus Lucas cheated with holding/pulling Soto's head too many times.

Soto will become a 140lbs champion.

Im not mad, cause it was an off-night for Soto, and he's gonna come back strong in a rematch.

True I don't think Mathysse will outbox Khan or even Garcia, but he doesnt have to. His body punches, pressure, and power can do it for him. He really is undefeated. He beats Garcia by tko and probably stops Khan late or wins a decision. He has a prime Maidanas power, but hes more intelligent and not as reckless. Hes a non defensive fighters nightmare and neither Khan nor Garcia known for their defense.
