Bear had the tools but marciano would out work him. Rocky could match Paulino uzcundun.

its a painful night for Maxie . Baer would have to take his lumps here fully focused or not and the better shape he was in would possibly pro-long the fight . Baer for me had a good punch but was not the owner of a technically great set of skills so i cant see his jab keeping rocky at distance for long . This would allow a fighter of Rocky's style and abilities to fight the fight that he wants . No doubt Rocky would have to take some big right hands along the way but i see the Rock having his hand raised in victory around the 7Th or 8Th round . And the reporters writing about how good Rocky looked and how brave Maxie was.

    Max Baer:

    Weight: 200+ Lb

    Reach: 81"

    Rocky Marciano:

    Weight: 185 Lb

    Reach: 69"

It's clear that if he'd be motivated Baer would have certain advantages.

Max could send Rocky to the canvas with that big right hand. He would n't keep him there though. Marciano pressurises Baer to defeat within ten exciting rounds.

In a fight between an over achiever and an under achiever I pick the over achiever .. Marciano by clear decision or stoppage ... too much will for Baer who for the most part was a front runner ...

A brutal fight this would be.

A motivated Baer whose in it to win it with his size, power, chin and stamina would make it a very tough for Marciano who wouldn't have ever felt such power. I think Baer might deck Rocky perhaps more than once but as it starts to get midway through the fight and Rocky's continually upping the pace Baer would start lagging behind with a hail of punches raining in from start of the round to finish. A motivated Baer would def. see the end bell maybe without even being decked but loses a dec. Both men feel the effects of the fight for weeks to come.

    Maxie wasn't always motivated to fight...Marciano was...Baer's right hand vs.the "Suzie Q"..
...Marciano will outwork Max in this one...maybe a TKO...

Rocky is a level above Baer and should be able to adapt to anything Baer comes up with. Stylistically though it suits Baer to have a pressure fighting coming to him so he can get his big punches unloaded so in this sense he does have a punchers chance.

Give me the more skilled fighter every day.....and here he is Marciano.
Baer would be tough and rough but Marciano was the better fighter and his durability and power wasn´t too far away of Baer anyway....

At his best Baer gets ko'd in less than 5. Too big a target, too stationary, too one dimensional.

Basicaly Baer should be able to win this, but being Baer he likley finds a way to **** it up.

This is were the differance in their skills would be shown. Marciano had better defense and reflexes.

The Tale of the Tape would be interesting for this one as I think Baer was about 6'2.5 and 215 and had a long reach.

Interesting fight as I agree with a few others a 100% Prime and motivated Baer would pose some problems both physically and style wise but in the end I think Marciano beats him.

Would love to see this fight between two guys with Iron Chins and murderous punching power.

The only time Baer impressed me was against Schmeiling. That Bear wins.
