Burns is so overrated on here it is shocking. Burns and Nelson do deserve credit for winning what they have and taking advantage of the situation they found themselves in.

i love the posts where I read the words "Burns has the style..." i agree styles do make fights but according to alot of people on here he has the style to beat anybody... move over Mayweather :rofl

Burns is one dimensional, he carries very little power and his career best wins are questionable in my opinion.

Mitchell will make this look easy enough, like I said styles do make fights, there is nothing Ricky Burns does that would frighten any top 20 lightweight and there are glaring holes in what Burns does and they will be exposed... do not underestimate the boxing smarts of Jimmy Tibbs.

I see this as a close one , both are good boxers. Burns has the height and reach advantage and has the more persistant jab and has the better guard defensively and a good workrate with decent body shots.
Mitchell has the stronger jab that can break opponents down and has a good left hand i.e hook to body or head, uppercut. Mitchell`s body movement is better defensively though overall Burns is better defensively. As for foot movement i say mitchells got the better there but not by much.
Im not gonna look at past opponents just both boxers skills. To me its whose gonna have the better fight plan on the nite. Both have good trainers in their corners. I`m a fan of both and i`m sitting on the fence for now.

great domestic fight, looking forward to this. burns ud for me. i can only see mitchell eating jabs and body shots all night, while toiling to land his own. burns has the reach advantage and is great at that step/half step back. burns covers up well on the ropes, is strong, has accurate combination punching etc. the only big advantage mitchell has imo is power but he doesnt hit as hard as martinez, kats or prob even moses so cant see him troubling burns much if he lands clean unless its the money shot. mitchell does throw some flashy combo's so yes he'll have some moments. i like mitchell he's very good but has flaws like **** footwork. bar a lack of ko power burns doesnt have any real flaws, he's not amazing at one thing but he's good at near everything, he's machine like at times in the way he's great at keeping the fight at his pace using his jab plus he's really focused and determand. billy must love having someone like him to work with. he's a great pro.

Katsidis would land a couple of body shots a round and that is it. Burns was in total control in the fight dominating behind the jab and putting together nice shots especially to the body. It wasn't that entertaining but it was effective and he 100% won

Burns absolutely dominated kats, that isn't even debatable.
