martinez is as white as any of the euro latin countries. He is very athletic (quick, good balance, strong), the same as was Joe Calzaghe.

For the people who think south Americans can't be white then they need to look at the history of emmigration to the countries there.

The majority of people in Argentina, Paraguay,Uruguay and southern Brazil are an overwhelming majority of Europeans. Spanish, Portuguese, Ukrainians, Poles, Italians etc. **** even the Third Reich fled there after WW2.

Also I love how a few people claim white people try to claim mixed race people as there own (Ward, etc) yet are doing the same themselves.

And what is it with people bragging about being from the 'hood', can't believe people actually want to come from/live in a shithole!

P.s. this should be in the lounge.

Are you really sure about The last part? In that case why is it just black people in the top competing in the 100 m. Shouldn't be any differens even if it is a different sport they are just as athletic right?

Actually, they didn't even call themselves "Latins" back then. Latino is a term for people who speak a language derived from classical Latin (i.e. French, Spanish, Portugese or Italian), it's not a racial term, really. Most people in Argentina and Uruguay are Caucasian or some mix thereof and as far as I remember african-americans are around 40% white genetically while most white folks in the US have got some African blood in them as well - "race" is quite meaningless as a term in America these days. The whole "white, latino, black, asian" thing is more cultural, imo.

Thank you sir! I had a strong feeling when I started this thread characterizing Sergio as "white" that it would largely serve as a lesson on race as opposed to being a debate about boxing and athleticism among white boxers. I am embarassed that my fellow Americans are so ignorant when it comes to race. Americans need to open up a book and travel more. I have actually heard people say so and so "isn't white he's European". As if America invented the white race when Europeans immigrated here. Anyone of European decent is white! Sergio is of Greek and Spanish decent. The last time I checked, Greece and Spain were in Europe. Case closed guys.

Japan (like Argentina, Mexico, U.S.) is a COUNTRY not a race. Yes, the vast majority of people who inhabit Japan are Asian, but if a white or black person moved to Japan and became a Japanese citizen it wouldn't change a damn ounce of their DNA. Get it?

    anyway yes he's up there...
