Jim: so Larry; FM wins the WW championship with s flawless display of self defense. Then breaks into tears at the PC saying that he's underappreciated and vows he's going to fight only one more time. What's going on?"

Larry's response is quite long, colorful and nasty.

edit: that cry was after Baldomir fight.

I love FLoyd. Him crying made me want to cry a bit too. Sick.

Pac will never reach this man's level. What a warrior.

    Blood, sweat and tears.

    Floyd Mayweather 85 million
    Manny Pacquiao 30 million
    Bob Arum 33 Million.

u have to put this in perspective.....

floyd had been on the back burner for sometime with arum. he was fighter of the year in '08 after he blazed a pretty serious trail. hbo offered him a deal that paled in comparison to what gatti and others were receiving at the time. floyd knew he was better and worth more. he just went about stating it the wrong way. hbo would turn down opposition for floyd that would be approved for gatti and others. then u have guys like lampley and merchant who sang gatti's praises when he was nothing but a 'c' level fighter....and they would demean or diminish floyds performances with their condescending remarks on air. then there was the whole thing with main events for coming up with all the excuses to NOT make the fight between gatti/floyd. first it was floyds trial. they made floyd out to be a criminal while conveniently brushing gatti's crimes under the rug. then it was..."there isn't enough time to promote the fight...blah,blah,blah." i remember thinking i won't believe this fight is going to happen until they set foot in the ring. i think floyd was just dealing with several ups and downs of an emotional rollercoaster ride leading into that fight. for him to put on a flawless performance and prove what he knew....and what no one would give him credit for....all came back in emotion after the win. hence the tears.

i don't fault him for crying. nor do i fault any of the other champions who show that emotion in the ring after an amazing accomplishment or even disappointment. thoughts of cory spinks, arreolla and more recently randall bailey come to mind and i am reminded of how much these guys sacrifice for those moments. i'm also reminded of how much they bare their souls for the world to see. boxing is like no other sport. there is no hiding in that ring. there is no substituting or calling time outs....these guys truly bare their souls so when that emotion swells up all in the moment, there's no holding it back. they are gladiators who have been to hell and back all for that one moment. i have no problem with them shedding a tear of joy.

The same reason Pacquiao and many other fighters cry after a victory. Overexcitement, relief and joy.

In this case, I think Mayweather was overexcited since it was his first PPV.
