Buster Mathis, Joe Bugner, Muhammad Ali were all 6'3 + 210lb + men Frazier defeated who were EASILY far better than the big clumsy oafs Dempsey fought.
I've watched the fight. Sharkey was on his feet when he was hit in the balls, he wasn't when he got hit on the chin. I'm not debating the legality of what went before, I'm just saying Dempsey had power and the left hook he landed on Sharkey('s chin) is one example of it. I agree with the point you make, when someone crunches another in the nads, it should lead to a DQ.
Dempsey hurts Joe early imo wins by KO, Jack's had two left hooks, the lunging wide one like he used to start the combination that knocked down tunney and a short left hook like the one that knocked out sharkey. Another example would be the willard fight. The left hook that floored willard was more of a looping hook. When he was in close he would bang down to the body than up to the head with ferocious short shots. These short left hooks are dangerous for Smoking joe because its a very short distance to travel and he can hurt you real bad with them. Also Dempsey had a lot of punches in his arsenal where Joe was rather limited. Dempsey could fire short uppercuts and hooks on the inside that are much more compact than Joe's when they fight on the inside which is inevitable Dempsey hurts Joe with those shots and finishes him off.
Dempsey is just too feral and ferocious. Frazier was weak, a white man's champion, who would wilt under Dempsey's slaughter. Plays out exactly like Dempsey-Carpentier. An exact carbon copy.
Williard is highly underrated. The Klitschko's have copied many of his defensive moves. It's very difficult to fight a tall, tenative, counterpunching fighter with a huge size advantage, that can take a beating. Watch Williard vs Johnson, and you will see him the same movements the Klitschko's do on a regular basis. I doubt many people have actually watched Williard aside from the Dempsey slaughter.
Ali was. With Mathis and Bugner it is a harder sell. Lets say they were all better though. The point is that Frazier was not going through them like Dempsey was going through his bigger opponents. They either lated the distance, or made it into the latter rounds of the fight. Dempsey is clearly more proven when it comes to dismanteling bigger opponents.
As much as im sure you're a good, respectable man, i would love to punch you in the face. Theres just something about you...
