You should probably ignore my rant about the state of boxing today.

You haven't much love for the 1980s or 90s either though, do you? Were Tyson and Holyfield shitty champs? :verysad

Ah, cool. I know you consider Tyson's title run to of lasted all of 3 defenses (including the loss) and not 10 over predominantly top rated opposition based on lineage, but I'd counter that he was the best heavyweight of the 1980s decade as a whole, to be brutally specific. I don't think anyone matches 37-0 (33) with as many wins over world contenders in that type of dominant fashion. :deal

Those guys wouldn't know what to think the first time Mike hit them. Like someone said earlier, 1st round knockout over most.

I really can't see any Dempsey opponent getting out of the first 3, Tunney and Sharkey included

Nah the old guard used to swan off and not fight for 3years, ahhhh those were the days, ahh I see what you meant Tyson did that by going to prison :hey

Tyson literally steamrolls everyone of Dempsey's opponents...

Ah, damn shame too. Holyfield's duties of keeping the straps Tyson unified warm for him were almost done.

So if he literally steamrolls them, he actually procures a steamroller and drives over them.

I agree with the sentiment. However I would say that he figuratively steamrolls them.

although a great light heavyweight, Spinks was a lousy heavyweight champion in my book. I’m not sure Spinks should even qualify as a heavyweight.

#1. Spinks Never fought one heavyweight contender.

#2. Spinks never beat a champion heavyweight convincingly.

Yes, I'm saying he'd work up a decent sweat and lay down and start rolling over them. Literally. A human steamroller.

    Chok,

The entire and only point of this thread is essentially:

    Marciano > Dempsey.

    That's it.

I don't know why you're still taking underhanded swipes at Tyson.

He beat Holmes convincingly the first time they fought.
