Why is there all of this hype about Pacquiao being on the decline??

Because ******s who have never been in a boxing ring and know very little about boxing jump on band wagons. He lost to Marquez (no change there then since he has never looked good against him) he looked great against Bradley and dominated the fight but ******s on here say "oh well he won but he looked bad" purely and simply based on the judges decision. He may be on the decline now, but not a paticularly fast one by any means and Mayweather is declining as well.

Simply put Pacquiao was made to look better than he is against certain guys who are not very good against his style or southpaws, i.e Hatton, DLH, Cotto and Clottey was made to sign a rehydration clause. He actually did very well against Mosely to knock him down and dominate every round, let's not forget that Mosely has NEVER been stoped, is good against southpaws and just turned up to survive.

Now Pacquiao is then put up against a guy who roided up even more than he did (Marquez was full of roids for the third Pacquiao fight) and has always had his number, so Pacquiao's going to look bad. Then Pacquiao comes up against another roid head who s young and undeafeted and just came as a spoiler really, Pacquiao wins quite clearly, get's robbed and then people who know nothing about boxing again say, "oh my God he's declined so much".

Let's face it, he hasn't went that far backwards, he just beat the LWW champ. Now I'm not saying he hasn't decline at all as he's had a lot of tough fights and he is in his 30's now, but no more than Mayweather has. As far as I'm concerned Pacquiao has 4 common opponents with Mayweather and beat 3 more convincingly, if people want to bring up all the CW stuff, then remember Pacquiao met Marquez at a catch weight and Mayweather pulled stuff on the scales with him.

So what was wrong with the performance then? Ok maybe he didn't look great but simply put Bradley is a world class fighter and came as a spoiler. What did you expect Pacquiao to do. He won very clearly imo.

    What more do you want?

I thought that considering Bradley is undeafeted and has beaten guys like Alexander, Peterson, Witter etc. that it was a very good performance since Pac only lost 3-4 rounds maximum.

As I said Pac's last 3 fights were just all wrong for him, they were never going to make him look good, maybe he's on the decline as well but not anything amazing.

He hasn't really declined that much. His fans are just setting up an excuse so when he gets beaten they'll feel ok about it. I disagree about the Bradley fight. Pac never dominated. He did win though. So credit goes out to him. But he'll always have trouble with solid boxers. And it does not matter which version of Pac we're referring to. A 2009 version of Pac would still have trouble with today's Marquez.

Actually this reminds me of the Kostya Tszyu syndrome. The majority had Tszyu at p4p no.1 for the longest time, when I knew it was a matter of time until he got beat again. Same thing with Pac. Pac and Tszyu had some real good wins but neither was ever really a p4p no.1.

If you honestly think Pacquiao looked anywhere near his standard, allowing for the declining performance we've all observed over the last 3 years, I don't know what to say.

I wouldn't say I'm a Pacquiao fan, more a boxer and a boxing fan, who has followed Pacquiao for many years and loves watching his fights and his performance against Bradley was most probably his worst, period.

Pacquiao should have, if not knocked Bradley out, punished him. Especially once Bradley lost the ability to direct the fight with good footwork and was forced to rely mostly on his good upper-body movement once sustaining the injury. Something that heavily favoured Pacquiao and his fighting style.

Pacquiao's performance in that fight in particular was horrible. To his standards, absolutely horrible.

Yes well I agree with a lot of the points you've made. He did lose quite clearly to Marquez but he did in the 2nd one and everybody expected Pac to blow away Marquez then.

I'm not saying I think Pacquiao would beat Mayweather but I still want to see that fight, Pacquiao would be by far the best south paw Floyd has ever faced and imo the best fight.

Marquez was just all wrong for Pacquiao and Mayweather was just all wrong for Marquez. Styles make fights. Mayweather is faster than Marquez and has a longer reach, Marquez is a natural counter puncher and it just isn't in his style to force the action. Marquez can however fight very well toe to toe and imo has much less problems with southpaws than Mayweather does.

How long have you been following Pacquiao and boxing though? because for all I know you could just be some 13 year old kid talking ****. In 2007 you'd have been laughed at if you said Pacquiao would be able to beat Ricky Hatton, Miguel Cotto or Antonio Margarito.

I'm not saying that there hasn't been any decline at all but I just think people who know very little about actually doing boxing are getting carried away.

Even though I thought Pacquiao looked very good against Larios, I wouldn't say that performance was any better than the one against Bradley considering that Larios has just been stopped. I actually scored the fight 119-111 which I know is wider than most had it but personally I thought it was a good performance.

Yes he did actually. I think anything closer than a 116-112 win for Pacquiao is just complete and utter bias tbh. I don't think Bradley did much at all, he was badly hurt in the fourth got shook a few times and was getting outlanded in the vast majority of the exchanges.

I'm 29, started fighting at 12, now train a few amateurs. Have had a lot of involvement in nearly 20 years. Was first introduced to Pacquiao in 2000 through a Filipino friend and enjoyed his exciting style ever since.

I would have always favoured him over Hatton.

There's always hyperbole and exaggeration, particularly when you have a fighter who has such polarity among fans, and not specifically boxing fans, but fans of one particular fighter. This doesn't deny the fact that he has definitely suffered a decline in performance.

Well you have 56 posts no photo etc. How do I know your not just talking bull ****.

I agree he has but not a paticularly suprising or drastic one. Mayweather imo hasn't looked too good either when compared with 5-6 years ago.

I don't think it is as drastic as some make out, especially considering his strengths that have made him the fighter he is and his age, but also due to these strengths it is seemingly more apparent.

Mayweather may have lost a bit of speed, but his strengths that make him the fighter he is will enable him to carry himself further and effect wins through implementing strategies he is capable of executing.
