http://realcombatmedia.com/2012/06/29/kelly-pavlik-conference-call-transcript/ And other interesting stuff. Not sure about this one if i is good or bad in terms of weight. "After that week off he weighed 172 so he only needed to take off four pounds." KELLY PAVLIK: I knew I had a left hand my whole entire career but I learned I could use it now. Thats what we work on a lot, even on the mitts. A three-piece or four-piece combo and its repetitious. Its not once or twice in that round and youre done. Your body gets in that habit the motor reflex of throwing that combo. And counters that we are working on. Robert reminds me constantly about them. Being a tall fighter, I never threw too many uppercuts and people dont expect uppercuts from tall fighters and thats another thing weve been working on a lot. Bending your body, turning your hips and throwing the uppercut. There are so many different things on the inside the jabs its hard to explain but the biggest thing is that its always repetitious. We dont just do something then forget about it, we work on it round after round.
One of the best Pavlik interviews I have read. Was interesting some of the things Arum added in, about Pavlik maybe being a promoter one day. I heard awhile back that Pavlik was interested in becoming one once he retires. I like almost everything Pavlik is saying. He still dodged the question about being 100% sober.
That would be a bad idea for Pavlik now, a few years ago that would have been a good fight. The way he's looked since he's comeback he would get bashed up by Froch. He doesn't deserve it anyway but he's a name so he'll probably get a shot a someone. What did Carl say about him anyway?
Jack and Kelly had a promotional company together. I gotta believe that is gone. Kelly always says the right things though. What do you think about him coming into camp at 172? Gotta be damned near the weight he fought at? I know it was only a week, but geez. :think
172 is pretty light for a super middle weight imo, but there is not much talk about fighting at middle weight. I think the Froch fight is just to big and to winnable for Pavlik to think about going down to middle weight. Fighting Froch is way bigger then fighting Sergio imo. Could be a fight of the year both are brutal men, but you can't go heels with Kelly and Froch is a warrior that is not hard to hit. And nobody takes Kelly's crusher for long. Even if Froch somehow beats Kelly its going to be a great one. I would be hyped like you would not believe if the fight comes to be.
I think Bika, Green or Abraham would be good places for him to start. Also if he took on Glen Johnson that could spell disaster for Kelly... Glen is hungry to kick somebody's ass and Kelly is prime.
Yes, AA vs KP for the washed-up middleweight championship of the world. Seriously though, I would still like to see that fight.
