AMAZING. Great power with both hands. Punches to the head, but also is a tremendous body puncher. Faster than any fighter of his size that I've seen. Killer-****ing-instinct. Tremendous conditioning. One of the greatest closers ever. ATG.ATG.ATG. Would absolutely annihilate Floyd and Pac at 147. Boxing could use a Ray Leonard today.

A fight where Ray Leonard showed his 'true grit'

1976 Olympic Games Quarter-Finals versus East German, Ulrich Beyer.

Beyer, an experienced southpaw, who was stronger and could hit harder than Ray.

Ray used all his skill and speed, to win a close decision over a very good fighter,
who never took a backward step, and pressured Ray for all 3-Rounds.

Leonard could've easily fought a much safer style and won boring fights ala Roy Jones and Floyd but he was too much of a warrior and came to fight. That's why he's a true ATG and not just a very skilled fighter who might've had a greater career had he pushed himself further ala Jones and Floyd.

My first memories of boxing are of Ray Leonard. At 3 years old my first set of gloves were some Ray Leonard gloves. He was a hell of an introduction into boxing. Growing up seeing the big 4 battle it out ingrained my love of boxing into me. While I'm more a fan of Hagler at this point there is no denying Sugar Ray's greatness.

Not everything went Ray Leonard's way,,,,

My friend competed at the 1972 National A.A.U. Tournament.

Saw Jerome 'The North Philly Flash' Artis completely out-box Ray in the 125 lb. Featherweight Division.

    One-tough division back then,,,,,,,,

I think Leonard gets a bit forgotten these days. There is no doubt in my mind he would have mauled mayweather and pacquiao. In fact I think the only other better welterweight than him is the other sugar ray

Ray would chew Floyd Jr up & spit him out:deal

SRL was one of the most vicious spitefull *******s ever to lace on a pair of gloves juxtaposed with a murderous killer instinct that belied the carefully crafted media image of Mr Niceguy.

But for all these atributes nothing could save him once confronted by the one & only true "HIGH PRIEST OF VIOLENCE" & Son of Satan:hail:hail:hail.....DURAN the GREAT who beat him up:D:bbb:yep
