HEGrant your obsessed with this "legs" thing, I would venture to say even at their advanced ages..Moore, Walcott(1st fight), Charles(1st fight) had better "legs" than most prime good young heavyweights out there

Marciano would be hitting whatever was available to hit..elbows, biceps, forearms, etc.,..eventually Byrd gets his wings broken. This wouldn't be a discourageable David Tua in there with him, afterall...

I don't understand these threads??? But I also don't understand why a very good fighter is never given a shot against a top 20 atg either? I would never make this thread and wouldn't have a major interest in the outcome....but since it is made...and while I would favor Rocky...why would Byrd stand no chance???

Ali struggled with Jones, Louis struggled with Conn, Frazier struggled with Bonavena...History is filled with borderlines who gave greats fights that were difficult to win...So why can't that happen in a hypothetical match-up???

I wouldn't say no chance. If he can last the full distance there's at least a decent chance he'd be the one winning the decision. If Byrd had some more pop and was more durable I'd like his chances alot better, but he's a live underdog here.

why not since the jones vs marciano thread is going strong. it's not unbelievable to think a 6'1 215lb slick, fast, southpaw would beat Marciano.

Byrd controls the majority of the fight, but gets knocked out late. Marciano's workrate would ultimately win him the fight.

Didn't Marciano make a hall of fame career out of beating these exact type of fighters? How could anyone possibly pick byrd then?

Agree with Philly and a few others. Marciano would win, but there's no reason to think that rapid fire would be helpless in there.

Marciano by KO within 6. Rocky's relentless pressure would be far to much for Byrd and there's no way Chris can take the kind of power Rocky holds. Byrd make take a few early rounds, but would find himself holding on for dear life around the 5th eventually getting brutally knocked out just a round later.

With 10 oz gloves and Rocky weighing less than HW Byrd, Chris can take his shots. Chris went a full 12 with a prime Wladimir Klitschko, David Tua, and took Vitali Klitschko's shots amazingly well.

Over 12 rounds, Chris has the hand speed and craft advantage. Could he be KO'd, sure, though I wouldn't bet on it.

He could certainly score on Rocky and outmaneuver him for 12 rounds

Marciano would be all over Byrd using a lot of angles and his crazy uppercutts. I can't see Byrd winning this fight, and it's hard to see him last the distance.

i think byrd could actually win plenty of early rounds...but the rock stops him late...espically if its a 15 round fight..but even at 12 he likely does, or has won enough late rounds to win a decision.

I have a very hard time seeing how Byrd wins this fight. Marciano was relentless and should be able to grind out a very clear points victory if it came to that, however I don't think it would. Marciano TKO Byrd.

I'm sorry, who decided they where going to use 10 oz gloves in this fight? Also do you actually know how many oz's the gloves that Marciano used? I'm not sure where I read it but I heard it was 8.

Byrd did not fight a prime David Tua. The best version of Tua went up against Ike, over 4 years before Chris and David met. He did not fit a prime Wlad either. The Wlad he was stopped by was a much better version than the one he went the distance with and still wasn't in his prime at 06. Your post just reeks of bull****.
