Damned. Thought this was a done deal. Seen it somewhere. Jr says he thinks Martinez is scared and that is why he is running off at the mouth.

Well, many times fights go forward on 'agreement'. Just reporting what I read cuz I thought it was signed. You know this business. Even after it is signed we gotta wait for the opening bell.

a year ago floyd-martinez was almost a done deal (according to some report). nothing is done yet until they are inside the ring. anything can happen from someone backing-out (gamboa), getting injured (berto), testing positive (peterson) and suddenly taking a vacation (floyd).

but this is good news none the less. would it be in the same date canelo is fighting?

Yeah, still on that date. Kinda sound like Jr will be in Vegas and the final details will be settled and he will sign. I'm still kinda shocked it got this far to be honest. :D

There was a thread on this. Even confirmed Arum haters agreed that Arum had called the date quite a while back. GBP doesn't own Mexican Independence day and May 5.

So? Arum announced this a long time ago when the WBC ordered Chavez/Martinez. Believe what you want.

    :yep

There is likely a spy over in Martinez camp that has reported back: "yes, that's affirmative......Martinez IS looking 40 years old now. I repeat, he IS looking his age in there, let's take his ass".

    :deal

Arum didn't announce anything officially before Golden Boy. Methinks they were waiting to see how Chavez dd against Lee before committing to a Martinez fight (something they still apparently haven't committed to), and unfortunately for them, Golden Boy was willing to announce the date first. Then again, unfortunately for us, Arum is so bitter from losing May 5th that he's willing to put on a PPV opposite a Golden Boy show. It's a petty game of chicken.

The 'change in attitude' I think came when they got rid of Ariza and the new trainer got him down to weight easier and supposedly without losing his strength by being on a water only diet. At least that is the story they are putting out. Then he didn't suck against Lee, so.....
