I agree though he shouldn't have done what he did, best thing to do with girls like that is walk away.
No he could have never been the peoples champion. He lacks the personality, the charm and most importantly the style to have ever endear himself to the fans like Leonard or Ali did. The safety first style isn't going to inspire people to root for him. He's respected and despite his style and personality he's become incredibly successful in drawing big PPV number's of those who want to see him beaten.
He was on his way, up to the Castillo fights.. After that the competition dropped.. The Baldomir fight was the final nail in the coffin.. Not even that he fought Baldo and ran from Marg, or in his previous fight fought Zab who was coming off his second embarrassing loss.. The fact he ran around the ring for 36 minutes was embarrassing for anyone involved..
Too safety first, no personality. Mayweather is one of those people who talk a lot thinking they are witty when in reality they just sound obnoxious. People like a warrior in the ring who knocks people out....Fighter of the decade anyone?
Black peoples love him. Most young Mexicans do to from my experience. To be the peoples champ like Leonard and Oscar you have to be fake to a certain extent . Didnt sugar ray leonard knock his wife around?
In this era of mainly casual fans, to get noticed as a defensive boxer you have to be a bit of a *****.
I like how peoples response to floyd beating up a woman is "it wasnt his wife, or shes a gold digger" Its like when Tex Cobb was called a was a fat, cocaine snorting drunk, and his response was "I'm not fat"......kinda missing the point there
If he signs up for "Kirk's ESB Championships" he has as good a chance as any on the "Peoples Championship". :yep
