I just checked and the 22nd is a Saturday, which reminds me of something Duva said a while back. She said she wanted fights on Saturday afternoon, like they used to have - Is that true? Were all the big fights in the afternoon back in the 80s or whatever?

I guess it's going to be similar to those NBC/Main Events shows from years ago (Juan Diaz, Rocky Juarez, Panchito Bojado, Kermit Cintron, etc.). From what I remember those were afternoon shows as well.

They were earlier evening, main events around prime time, not the late-night affairs they are now where ring walks don't even start until damn near midnight sometimes.

From what I've read, a lot of the fights from the 80s were in the afternoon on ABC's World Wide Sports. I wouldn't know personally, because I was born in 1984.

    But anyway...

I read where Adamek, or someone in his team, said he wanted to fight here in the States but have the show air on ppv in Poland so thats one of the reasons they wanted a 4pm show.

I just hope they put on a good card and it does strong ratings so NBC looks at keeping or even increasing shows in the future.

Thank you! No doubt! How accurate was that?

Why do we have to wait until 22nd december? make a card in September/October and then in December

The Olympics are on NBC and their other outlets at that time and Main Events and NBC didn't want to put a card up against that.

    Lol.

Great news though, I've watched every card they've out, and look forward to seeing more of Jennings and Rosado.

While I wish NBC all the best in this endeavor, there are a couple of problems with starting on Dec. 22th:

    1. That date (the Saturday before Christmas) is traditionally one of the Top 5 busiest shopping days in the US. Looks of people will be on the move during that time slot
    2. The NFL, the TV Ratings king in the U.S., traditionally plays games that Saturday before Christmas. IIRC, the Lions/Falcons, a game with potential playoff implications, are scheduled for that day (not sure of start time).
    3. The time slot (non prime time) is traditionally a weak one TV wise on Saturdays.
Again, I hope the potential poor ratings don't kill the effort.

    Great news!

I really appreciate the shows Main Event has put on NBC Sports Network. They actually put on compelling fights instead of having certain fighters take on cans.

Great news for the sport. This had been a very long overdue.

Great news. I remember watching boxing on network TV on Saturday afternoons as a kid.

This was promised when the deal was made in the beginning.

Gotta show big fights or it will not matter...
