I heard an interview with him with Bunce a few months ago where he says there's one particular story he's working on that will hopefully break before the end of the year. I don't remember him ever saying 'this will break within' 6/7/8 weeks. The story, if there is one, is at a standstill because Montoya can't force GBP to produce the records and GBP seems to be unable/unwilling to clear the air.

My solution would be to give the raw data to the NSAC and see if they find anything that warrants action since the fight happened on their watch. What the contract calls for becomes irrelevant if it never factored into the way the test results were interpreted.
