Garcia: Khan fights hand-picked opponents WBC light-welterweight champion Danny Garcia feels his next opponent Amir Khan has only ever appeared in carefully chosen fights, designed to make him appear better than he actually is. Khan will attempt to win the WBC crown - as well as the vacant WBA title - against Garcia when they meet in Las Vegas on July 14, in what will be the Brit's final appearance at 140lbs. Khan's reputation seemed to take a huge dent when he was beaten by Lamont Peterson late last year, but the American's victory has been discredited after it emerged he failed a drug test. Former Olympian Khan is once again being discussed in elevated company, with a meeting with Floyd Mayweather Jr being mooted - but Garcia insists he is not worthy of such lucrative contests. "I know that I'm going to hurt him in this fight. He never fought anyone like me. All of his other fights were set-up fights to make him look good. This fight right here, he is going to have his hands full," Garcia told The Boxing Lab. "Everybody says he's fast and all that, but he reaches a lot with his punches and I think that's where he goes wrong. I'm a great counter-puncher, so if he comes in and he wants to reach, then he has to pay. If he wants to fight then we can fight. If he wants to box then we could box. Whatever he wants to do, I'm going to adapt in there and make a exciting fight and win." [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DrMA08KcS1g"][/ame]

Saj on twitter So @kingpete26 decides to delay the July 14th hearing aswell, 2nd time now, cheating scum, keep the shitty IBF title we know ur related to them RT @danrafaelespn: My update on Lamont Peterson's Nevada hearing situation following his positive test: http://t.co/9k7Jr4Ki #boxing
No IBF title or Ring my man. Shame about that, he would have been the first undisputed JR Welter since the great Kostya Tszyu. Imagine that, Khan v Tszyu. That would have been a boxing match of epic proportions :happy
Well i dont think Garcia can do what Peterson did. He's not that type of fighter. Garcia will have to be himself and do what he does best and thats counter-punch. Garcia doesnt back up for defense, he bends low and stays close when u come in or he'll counter you which will nullify Khans reach. He'll have to outjab Khan eventually and feint Khan to make him hesitate. Danny can cut off the ring applying this pressure especially since he can get in hooks to Khans guard if he tries to escape out. Khan will have to fight out and more than likely hold till the ref breaks em up. Will be difficult at first due to Khans speed but i believe Garcia has a more effective jab and better timing and he can double triple it up and hook off it which Khan is open for when he lunges in. Im interested to see how Khan is going to adjust to Garcia. Khans defense looked terrible vs Malignaggi but he had no respect for him. Khan will have to respect Garcias power so those 1,2, 3 flurries and grabs and holds his opponents head or arms wont work vs Danny. Khan will have to show me something ive never seen before. Garcia can either win by slowly pressuring with the jab and feints making Khan lose ground and back up which will be game-over. Garcia will potshot him with right hands to the body and up top or left hooks to the body as he picks Khan apart. Or Garcia can be patient, fight off the back-foot, jab and make Khan pay when he lunges in. Dannys left hook up top is a one hitter quitter if Khan gets caught lunging in. Khan hasnt had to fight someone like Garcia before so itll be on him to show us something new, but we all know were gonna see more of the same, wild flurries followed by lots of holding the arms and head and rough housing. Not gonna work vs Danny.
Well he hasnt been outworked as of yet. He's a counter puncher. Its natural for him to have low output and wait for his opponent. Ill critisize him for having much too respect for Morales. But i laugh at anyone who tried to say Morales is 'slow.' Morales had speed timing and a brilliant mind and Garcia beat him at his own game. It was an admirable performance that Danny deserves more respect for. Khan would have probably fouled out of the fight vs the legend Morales like he did vs McCloskey and Judah. Oh and Morales wasnt making fun of 'slow' Danny when he nearly got ktfo now was he?
People say Danny throws too wide or slow. I guess thats why he can hit you with all sorts of punches. He has good placement and accuracy. He makes his opponents think twice about approaching him. Danny can generate power with such little movement. He doesnt waste any energy. Just boxes and bangs. Very clean fighter as well. I know this kid can beat Khan. Khan is in for a rude awakening.
Daaaaamn Team Garcia is oozing with confidence. I bet after Khantards seen this, they had to go watch Khan slap Paulie around for reassurance
So you think he'll have to counter-punch? I don't see how Garcia ducking low nullifies Khan's reach if he keeps at range. I also don't see how he's going to out-jab Khan. Can you show me a fight where he steps in with the jab consistently? Khan's taller, quicker, and despite lunging in sometimes, has good timing with his jab. I don't see how Garcia has better timing-he was getting caught with the same lead/counter right from shot Morales throughout the first 6 rounds. His failure to adjust was disappointing. Don't see what you're saying about Malignaggi; his jab-pull-1-2 was working great that night against a fast, mobile counter-puncher. Do you think Garcia has better timing than Paulie? Ultimately, it's Garcia who has to show something new. Khan just has to keep range, throw combinations, circle out, and he'll penetrate Garcia's defense in time without too much resistance. Garcia's rushes and counters may make it close, but he's not got the timing of a Judah, Malignaggi, or Kotelnik, and Khan didn't lose a round against any of them; nor has he have the power and raw aggression of a Maidana or a Peterson. He seems a solid fighter, but for all his flaws, I see Khan natural talents and attributes complimenting his basic outfighting style too well. Thanks for the breakdown. Our avatars will meet their fate on fight night.
