Am I the only person here who thinks Mayweather beat Castillo in their first fight?

Discussion in 'World Boxing Forum' started by ThereIsOnlyOne, Jul 3, 2012.

  1. It seem's like everyone has written this fight off as a robbery of some sort and disregard it as a win for Mayweather and I never see anyone defend him.
I thought he won it. Close but clear :huh
    Am I alone in this?

its mostly pac fans that dont know how to score a fight or really never watched it.

calling one of his most competitive fights a robbery is really all the ammo they have to discredit a flawless record.

but never do they bring up the second fight tho

most idiots can't score a fight, they count arm punches. Mayweather won by 2 rounds, IMO.

I actually re-watched the first half of this recently. The first time I thought it was really close and could have gone either way. On my recent watching I don't think I gave Castillo a round until the 6th or 7th. It just seemed Castillo was coming forward not landing much while Mayweather was showing a great display of defense and landing enough clean, effective punches to give him the nod in most of those rounds. Guess I'll have to get back to you later as to who I thought won but unless Castillo sweeps the rest of the fight in my view, I don't see how I can score it for him.

Boxing should score all punches, even body-shots,because castillo landed alot of them.

    correct.

  9. Exactly the same. I only watched the fight for the first time a couple months back and by the time I got to the middle of the fight I was thinking christ Castillo must really pick it up in the 2nd half to take this... but it just didn't happen...

I felt Floyd edged it. Floyd banked in way to many rounds early on. You could make the case that Floyd won the first 5 rounds.

No, only *******s and floyd-haters had that fight as a robbery. Castillo lost the first 5 rounds easily, so you have to believe Floyd then lost 7 rounds straight to get the L. That just didn't happen.

You wonder why they never bring up the second fight? Cause in the second fight Floyd wasn't injured anymore and soundly beat Castillo. The first fight was okay, but Floyd was nursing an injury, at several times you would see him switch to southpaw to relieve some of the stress on his left side.
He still managed to win all the early rounds and the championship rounds.

Why the hell do people still keep saying FLoyd outclassed Castillo in the 2nd fight? That fight was almost dead even until the championship rounds when Floyd stopped moving. He was giving rounds away by not punching.

The first fight was just too clear a Floyd win to argue.

Castillo gave away 4 of the first 5 rounds and was losing before both point deductions so Floyd had 5 rounds(6 points because of the 10-8 ) and one even. The best Castillo can possibly get is a draw, and that wasn't a drawish fight. Castillo landed a ton of low blows and held and hit most of the fight.

Just re-scored it. DVD version, big screen TV.

Some of the rounds were very tough to score and I'm big on scoring even rounds so that's what I did with a few. Castillo did come on strong in the second half but I ending up scoring it 115-114 for Mayweather.
