Has Pacman ever beaten an elite boxer in their prime?

    This is more in response to the Floyd HOF thread.

    Has Manny beaten an elite level boxer that was in their prime when he fought them?

    Clottey! Well one can say Juan but then again that might not count since some say he didn't really beat him.

    I personally don't believe he ever beat JMM.

    I think Clottey is pretty good at times, but not even close to being elite.

    ****, Clottey had lost to Cotto in his previous fight before fighting Pac.

    And just to add. The Cotto/Clottey was a really good underrated scrap.

    barrera, cotto, marquez, sasakul....

    he arguably beat marquez if the judge scored it correctly in the first fight. jmm's prime weight and at his absolute prime.

    He beat Cotto post-prime and pre-secondary prime. Same with Barrera and he never beat Marquez. Santaklu never rated p4p.

    :lol: Cotto magically became "prime" again when he fought Floyd, eh?

    Truth is, he's still in his prime. . . He was moreso in his prime when he fought Manny, but he was still prime when he fought Floyd.

    A boxers prime is a period of time that you look back on, when they where are at their best, once they have retired.

    It cant be used to describe a period of a current boxer as you dont know if they have peaked or not yet.

    The word prime is thrown around too easily.

    Cotto was Pacs best win.

    Cotto had evolved into a different fighter when he fought Floyd, nothing to do with prime or not. Its just a diffrent set of circumstances.

    Bararra is the closest I can think of. Tho he had been fighting for a long time by that point.

    That could easily count.

    I don't really think Cotto is "elite".

    Cotto re-entered his prime when he fought Floyd with up to 25 pounds of hydrated muscle he ain't have with Punkiao. Fact. Plus he learn how to clinch and finely heelt up from the Margo brick beatin'. Pac caught him at the right time. SORRY.

    So cotto getting ****ed up by Margo and clottey beating him to a bloody pulp makes cotto prime?

    In that case, floyd also fought a prime healthy cotto, who not only was coming off impressive victories but had an improved trainer and was not weight drained :lol:
