Also, per his feed... Ward is one of the four nominees for a 2012 "Best Fighter" ESPY. He and Floyd Mayweather Jr. are the only two boxers nominated, with the other half of the ballot taken up by mixed martial artists Anderson Silva and Jon Jones.
Rooting for Chad since he seems to be willing to fight the best. Ward will likely win though. Ward knows how to win and sticks to his game plan. He'll execute the same plan he used against Kessler---push to the ropes and fight inside. We all know Chad can't handle in fighting as old man Hopkins proved.
I don't know, that's what most are expecting...but I don't know... Something tells me this MIGHT surprise people. Dawson lands one of those sneaky powerful lefts from outside after a quick sidestep to catch Ward turning and out of position...**** could get real. That would be the biggest heaviest guy to turn over a well-executed punch on Ward's grill. Watching him try to keep his composure and maintain a disciplined approach could be interesting. Would a flush left to the jaw be enough to send him into berserk mode and have him just jump in on Dawson throwing raw punches? Or would he work his way in behind a jab, warily slipping phantom repeat lefts, and then start ripping up the body and trying to wrestle with the bigger man? How will Dawson respond to that? :think There are a few scenarios where this could be elevated above what everybody anticipates it will be.
Sven Warddke at his very best, draining Dawson, demanding to fight in his backyard again, probably asking a pair of horseshoes in his gloves too.lame
Chad Dawson is the first person to beat Hopkins since Roy Jones without any controversy. That's a big statement.
Except for Calzaghe? :? The only controversy there was in the form of the sexual assault Joe perpetrated on old Bernie, not the scoring.
Chad Dawson is athletically talented hand speed, foot speed, height, reach, reflexes, in addition to this he is VERY SKILLED especially from the outside...his inside game has improved also look at the Hopkins fighte. 50-50...if weight is not an issue...
I thought Calzaghe won convincingly, but you know how some members are on this forum, so I decided not to list him.
So there will be some "stiff" competition for this HBO card (which, remember, includes DeMarco vs. Molina...) Alexander vs. Bailey & Quillin vs. TBA on Showtime, and Adamek vs. Toney on PPV. :think Damn, tough choice. What to watch...
I got Ward by stoppage. I think Chad has a shaky chin and Ward has just the right style to stop Chad. Glenn Johnson nearly stopped Chad and Ward is a far better inside fighter than Glenn Johnson.
