i cant think of anyone out there breaking the 2.5 mill ppv i look at all the boxers we have here today and the way everything its handled its really hard to imagine anyone breaking that record. people need to realize that a lot of people watch the fight for free online and when mayweather vs de la hoya happened its was the first real boxing reality show to happen for the sporttt and the advertising took off on its own because people were really shocked and entertain by 24/7 and plus there wasnt really a lot of streaming websites back in the day. but right now u can type any fight on google and watch it live.

i personally think that the record will be there for a very very long time

no it would not ok lets say they fight and floyd brings in 1.5 million fans to buy ppv and pacquiao brings in like 500-900 thousands fan and that still dont equal to 2.5 its imposible to break the record

Tell me when Floyd has brought in 1.5 mill buys on his own?

2.5 mill is a big number, but thats also De La Hoya's number. Pac Mayweather would have definitely broke it, it probably still would.

the number belongs to mayweatherr not to de la hoya because mayweather won the fight if de la hoya would have won than those numbers will belong to him. last time i checked he did like 1.5 mill

:huh De La Hoya was still considered the bigger draw in the sport at the time of the fight.

Floyd did 1.5 mill against Cotto, on Cinco De Mayo, with Alvarez and Shane Mosley on the card. You don't think that had something to do with it?

    Chill out Tasco,

Floyd did a whole hell of a lot to sell that fiight. De La Hoya's next best is the Trinidad fight which did 1.4m-- the same as Floyd/Mosley and 100,000 less than Floyd/Cotto.

that had nothing to do with it because if u did ur research mayweather vs cotto has been talked forr years ever since 2004. its been talked longer than mayweather vs pacquiao has. alvarez vs mosley had nothing to do with it. if u think alvarez had something to do with it than y his next fight isnt even on ppv because he casnt sell ppv yett. and dont matter the numbers belong to mayweather because he wonnn

You understand things are much different now then they were then? that's not to say floyd didn't help sell, but get real. He fought the biggest draw for the decade and a half at the time. His biggest immediately before was like 360K.

if it werent for his trash talk and making the public hate his guts. it wouldnt have cracked 2 mill. trust me, thats a BIG reason why casuals decided to buy that fight. to see Oscar shut his mouth. and they say it was floyds idea to go with the 24-7 series.

of course Oscar was the main draw. but Floyd deserves at least 35-45% credit for selling this fight to the public.
