Way less than watched Andy Murray's first round match this week i guess . Way less than the millions who would watch a Formular one showdown between Hamilton and Button should they clash in a decider on terrestrial tv again . way less than the Rugby Leauge grand final from Wembley every year . Way less than any ONE of this years RBS six nations Rugby Union Championship matches. In fact probably way less than any other terrestrial tv sporting final shown on TV this year ie the Golf , Athletics world championships from Helsinki etc . Go on then what were the Figures for Froch v Pascal i can't remember it off the top of my head ? .
a few million i think. its not just the viewing figures but the particular demographic (in this case men 18-40, usually the most valuable demo) and the market share at the particular time - ie the prime saturday night slot
And it was even more impressive as compared to Andy Murray for instance Froch was completely unknown. There is a market for boxing if it's promoted properly.
Plus the wimbledon factor and the fact there shite all on during the day. I wonder of all the millions watching Murray tuned into the French Open and US open? a fraction il bet, if they even knew it was on There is a market for the sport, for the casual viewer. They just have to promote it smarter against football and be imaginative. If that means heavily discounted tickets for a better atmosphere on TV, so be it.
Isn't Rugby the second most followed sport in UK. Sure I read that somewhere; maybe in terms of attendance...
The US Open tennis final will get bigger viewers that a US boxing match. A Rugby Union/league game will get bigger viewers and attendance than a british title fight on sky.
a fraction id bet. No british fighter involved, on at 4am, not on terrestrial tele. Whats your point Rob?
Pay Per View has destroyed boxing. How many people would pay per view to watch Tennis..? Rugby..? How many people would pay £15 to watch one tennis match..? if Tennis was run like boxing, it would also slip from the mainstream. Boxers need to scrap pay per view, deep down guys like Oscar De La Hoya want to improve boxing, but all they really need to do is scrap pay per view boxing. **** Oscar De La Hoya.
The Newsnight hag should've asked Fwank why he said on Bunce's show that he wouldn't even make Haye-Chisora.
