Agreed to say 95 % of cuban boxing fans are black is not accurate at all.

Cuban athletes most are black yes, but that has nothing to do with the fanbase

Miami full of black Cubans? where? :huh

I know Miami as well as anyone as this has been my hometown since 1982. It's very hard to find a black Cuban in Miami and that's the truth. Most Cubans know that most black Cubans don't immigrate to the US ( for many reasons ) and for that reason most of the Cuban immigrants are white.

I am talking with facts here and not hate, why would I hate since I am Cuban and back our athletes?. What I am trying to say is that the vast majority of white Cubans are not hard core boxing fans and that's a fact. You can ask any Cuban in the streets of Miami to name a famous boxer and they will bring up " Pacquiao or May " cause they are the most famous ones but at the moment you say Lara or Solis they would say " who "?

If you look at Cuban sports you will see what I mean. The main sport in Cuba where you will see many whites is baseball but boxing is 98% black, why is that? It's cause whites don't get involved in boxing that much, it's a super tough sport but a sport that the blacks don't mind getting into.

Even though there are probably thousands of US based white Cubans who do like and follow boxing that's just a merely 3 to 4 percent of the total Cuban polulation in South Florida, compare that with the hundreds of thousands of Cubans who follow baseball and you will see what I mean.

Hey and there's no need to insult each other " mi compatriota " as we are both Cuban. You may have your views different than mine but let's respect each other instead of saying " it's 100% false ".

The Cuban boxers do have a hard time with their Cuban supporters. I remember when I used to go to Miccossukee to watch Casa, Hurtado and others and there were only about 700 to 1000 people there and even that not all of them were Cuban. Was it because of poor publicity or something else?

It really doesn't matter if they have a small Cuban fan base as long as they keep on winning and kicking butt they will adopt many fans from different nationalities.

    :good

Most cubans, even if they don't follow boxing, know who Gamboa is. Many also know who Lara is.

Si compadre, yo era Gamboa Express. No soy ningun fanboy como dices, solamente entro para compartir y hablar un poco de boxeo Cubano. Que tiene eso de malo?

By the way, I am not trying to do any harm here. Es posible que no me entendieron. Yo respeto a todos y espero que todos me respeten.

    ;)

Seguro compadre, te entiendo perfectamente. Muchas vecez a uno se le puede pasar la mano ya que los insultos son muy comun aqui. :good

Back to English for our " non-Cuban " posters. There's also a big difference between the Cubans who have recently come from Cuba and the Cubans born and raised here. They are basically " two very different cultures ".

    Saludos!

And if they don't it's because of INTENTIONAL BAD PROMOTION , Bon Bon says Cuban whites know about May and Pac , ¿ how come they don't know Rigo and Lara too ? , they're also black . Like I said before it has nothing to do about race , when you support a Cuban athlete you're supporting your flag , your pride , etc , not his skin , you won't be marrying them after the fight for Christ sake . I also thought his post was a bit out of order but everyone is entitled to their opinion . Peace .

Well ****ing right on! I turned Mexican as soon as I started calling Abril a ***** lol. I also turned into a Rios fan that night as well apparently.

I guess it could be worse, I could be a Cuban, what **** boxers I would have to cheer for, no fun. lol.

Being accused of being Mexican > being accused of being Cuban lol.

With all due respect, to be Cuban you have to understand the sweet science of boxing. You don't qualify yet, keep learning and one day...maybe.
    Meantime ...orale pinche guey!:rofl
