then it becomes difficult for you to explain why he did practically nothing after Ruiz, compared to his meteoric pre-Ruiz career.

obviously something went missing after that tremendous peak he acheived, I think it was mainly lack of direction, like those guys who work in the city and become millionaires at 30 but are burnt soulless by then.

Because he had to shed a ton of weight to lose to get back to 175 because the Holyfield and Tyson fights fell through. He looked like a ghost in the first Tarver fight and was still able to win. Looked like ****, but still won.

That speaks to just how great he was in his prime.

Who was the biggest puncher Robinson faced in your opinion?

well thats what I mean by longevity, 'how great he was in his prime' underlines that.

kmac has been caught out boxrecing SRR, and subsequently dismantled and humiliated. No, SRR was not KO'd by Joey Maxim, he was clearly winning the fight and collapsed from heatstroke. He was also past his prime at that point.

Before you try and backpeddle to save face, you brought up the Maxim fight to criticise Robinson's chin :deal

i'm sure this is new to you but TKO stands for technical knockout. knockout being the key word here that you can't seem to grasp. so maxim's punches had zero to do with the stoppage? was maxim fighting in that hot ring too? please remind me.

so NO ONE will ever look back at ratings and awards given in any fighters' era to consider their greatness. thank you for clearing that up. word is the ring and the bwaa are going to stop giving their awards now after reading your last post.

you spar every other day?? wow, i'm talking to a real fighter here. something tells me you're lying. maybe it's the fact that a true fighter has more respect for those that step in the ring. don't worry, you'll always be really tough behind your keyboard.

False. Glass Jaw Roy weighed in at 193 for his "fight" with Ruiz. He walked into the ring for his LHW fights weighing around 186 normally. That is a gain of seven pounds, not the astronomical figure of "25 lbs of solid muscle" that he and his nuthuggers have thrown out throughout the years. There was no massive weight gain and loss and that was debunked long ago. Also, Tarver got robbed and Chumped him twice after that.

Yet everyone is bashing Jones for being stopped past his prime. :nut Guess it's only relevant when something happens to Roy when he is past it :tired

Ray Robinson is very underrated and so is Joe Louis but it's understandable cause you cannot really understand the dimension and quality in those old black and white tapes. So people look at Roy, Leonard, even Floyd...

    :lol::lol::lol::lol::rofl:rofl:patsch

This is comical watching you grasp at straws to try and rectify what might be the biggest BoxRec **** up of all-time. Did Maxim's punches also KO the ref who also passed out from heat exhaustion that evening? The heat did him in, bottomline. He was handily winning the fight and literally passed out in-between rounds. That is not in any way related to his Chin or being knocked out. Fact.

No one considers those awards when they are determining greatness, they look at who that fighter beat, when they beat them, and how they did so. Glass Jaw Roy fails on all counts with that criteria and that is why Burt Sugar, among others, has him ranked so low on the ATG list. He proved **** all during his career.

Yes, I spar every other day and it certainly doesn't stop me from being a discerning and critical Boxing fan. I, unlike you, am not a spotty faced teenager who watches Boxing to find heroes to look up to and I don't feel the need to ignore Facts and nuthug fighters. They get punched in the face for a living, sorry, but that doesn't earn you universal respect.:patsch

ko artist (btw, another douche bag name on these boards), you again are completely wrong. criticize robinson's chin? mm said that robinson had never been ko'ed and he was wrong. that's what i was responding to. robinson's chin was incredible.

metal mandible is a complete ****** along with rico but they feel the way they do about fighters and that's fine. they are cowards but i'm sure that's the way they truly feel. ko artist, on the other hand, just tries to butt in and start ****. all you have to do is look at the posts to see that i didn't criticize robinson's chin but ko artist posts otherwise.

i can't believe i'm accused of not knowing anything about the robinson-maxim fight. i think i first watched the fight around 20 years ago and have had it for years in my fight collection. a tko is a ko for those new to the sport. they're both stoppage victories where a fighter can not continue to the end of the fight.

This post is proof that MetalMandible is trolling.
I've told him twice now and provided proof that Roy Jones weighed about 200 pounds for the Ruiz fight and each time he has ignored me and then spouted the 193 weight as fact on a different day and on a different thread.
He knows he's completely wrong but he arguing for the sake of pissing people off.
If we all ignore him he will either go away or torture himself trying to get attention.

No amount of true facts will deter him, just give it up and stop responding to him
