And Roy Jones was sparked cold by former MW feather fisted Glen Johnson. Note that Headbanger mentioned peak Hagler.
roy jones was caught in a pilot scheme by indiana state in 2000 to assess the costs involved with testing professional boxers nationwide. regular steroid testing was not introduced accross america in boxing untill 2002. you want a link then find it yourself, you clearly have nothing else to do with your time. everything i stated is fact, and you just like a long line of delusional roy jones fanboys on here are a steroid apologist, fanboys like you make me sick, you arn't fans of boxing, your blinkered nuthuggers. if enzo mac tested positive for an illegal substance then he is an absolute ****ing disgrace to boxing just like jones, toney, mosley, tarver, peterson, berto etc.
You also have to consider that SRL by no means Dominated that fight and took his fair share of lumps during it. Glass Jaw Roy would not have survived Hagler's onslaughts.
i do not waste my time responding to trolls, its bad enough spending my time correcting delusional fanboys never mind spending my time throwing you all over esb like a ****ing ragdoll :roflatsch
MetalMandible, please list Jones's technical and tactical weaknesses, we'll go through them one by one. Boxing fans are a rare breed. As far as the sports world goes, we seem to be the only bunch who don't appreciate great talent when it's infront of us. Instead we seek reasons to downplay their abilities and achivements. It's happened to most great fighters. Of course this is Boxing, and the irony is that most Boxing fans have never Boxed. As opposed to something like Soccer, where almost every soccer fan, has played the game. Maybe the difference is exactly that, people are happy to risk playing soccer (a game) but their less happy about risking Boxing. (Anything but a game.)
a pilot scheme by indiana?? indiana still doesn't have a drug testing today. the boxing organizations called for the test. seriously, i've followed jones' entire career and this is the first i've heard of this. you brits make up **** and consider it to be fact. headbanger, you're a disgrace to these boards and to the human race. regular testing in the US is done by each state you idiot. nevada started in 2002. drug testing had been going on since the 90s. tyson and whitaker had fights changed to no contests because of drugs. btw, how do you suppose jones passed his drug test vs ruiz in '03. the fight was in vegas and jones had to give a **** test before receiving his $10 million check.
On 2000-5-13 Roy Jones and Hall fought and gave a urine sample to the state of Indiana. As far as Jones and Hall were concerned their urine sample was only going to get tested for stimulants, NOT steroids. This is because steroid testing in boxing (in America) did not start in boxing until 2002. [The state of Indiana had started their own testing scheme but no one outside of the state knew about it] Goodman: That was proposed by [Then-commissioner] Flip Homansky at the time, and I think that it started in 2001 as a pilot program. There was a time where fighters were being educated. So it was in 2001 that the individuals were notified, and then in 2002 the testing was actually begun more uniformly. http://www.aolnews.com/2010/01/06/fo...le-for-boxing/
Yeah let's disregard his success at the higher weights :nut Atleast Johnson was formidable still and not coming out of retirement for a payday like Leonard and Hags still lost it.
ok, i don't know where your first quote came from because it's not in the article. the jones-hall fight was in 2000. goodman states that the pilot program started in 2001. flip homansky was the commissioner of nevada, not indiana, who still doesn't have drug testing. your first paragraph is a complete lie. andro, what jones tested positive for, was over the counter at the time in supplements. the ibf listed it as being an illegal substance but didn't notify the fighters about what was legal and what was not. this pilot program claim is comical.
Apparently, after Roy got caught with his Christopher Reeve smarties, he didn't ever take them again. But apparently he didn't need them, because after Hall, his opposition was abysmal apparently. Woods, Gonzalez, Harding, Ruiz, Tarver etc were all bums, so he didn't need to take them. Also, if he'd have taken them before he fought Glen, he wouldn't have lost to him. Ha! You couldn't make it up!
