considering the circumstances and winning 2 titles and rubbing elbows with the best is a good thing

wins over Vitali, Tua, Holyfield and kept his title vs Golota is a solid resume to me

but not sure if its HOF

LL ducked him. Most rate him a top 45-60 HW ATG. Some decent accomplishments. Was a little guy in a big guys division.

i take that into account when assessing his career

he fought every one and for the most part was not an easy task

When was this? Olympics or something? yeah, let's discount someone cause they lost in an amateur career. :patsch

    I'm a big Chris Byrd fan, but I don't know if he's a HOF'er or not.

I think he should be, but whether he WILL be is another thing. He had some good wins, he fought everyone in front of him and his only losses in his pro career were to people who outweighed him by as much as 25 lbs or in the case of him dropping down an unhealthy amount at the end of his career, to Donovan George when Byrd was drained beyond belief.

I think he should be in, but doubt he will.

Also Lewis DID duck him, but it wasn't out of fear or anything. Byrd didn't bring anything to the table and he was all risk no reward for Lewis. A Byrd fight does nothing for Lewis except open the door to a possible loss. I think Lewis would have won easily, but the chance is still there. And if there is no benefit to a win, don't risk a loss.

    That's business.

No, he wasn't consistent enough in his prime (imo) to warrant a Hall Of Fame invitation.

I don't think he rates that high. He didn't accomplish much and Ibeabuchi destroyed him.

Ive read and done HW atg lists myself. Trust me it gets rather thin around 45-50. We are talking Chris Byrd and John Ruiz at this point. That is not a knock on them bother very good figthers imo.

Yes, Byrd is arguably the best southpaw HW of all time.
