WBC calls Lara-Martyrosian eliminator By Gabriel F. Cordero WBC executive secretary Mauricio Sulaiman informed Fightnews.com that the WBC has ordered free negotiations to commence for a final elimination bout between Erislandy Lara and Vanes Martyrosian to determine the mandatory challenger for current WBC super welterweight champion Mexican Saul Canelo Alvarez. If there is no agreemnet between the parties, a purse bid will be held on July 27 at WBC Headquarters in Mexico City. Both boxers have claimed in the media and in public their desire for a world title shot. Now the WBC has made an official decision. Now were waiting for the promoters to do the fight. It`s a great fight and we think its not a problem to do this fight, said Sulaiman. ======================================================== ....to be followed up with the Final Final Eliminator, then the Super Duper Final Eliminator, and then the.....atsch. Good fight though, I'd love to see it.
This was already ordered a long time ago but Vanes was scared and said no. He wants to keep his "perfect" record.
Nice, I made a comment about it in the "Why Cuban fighters... Thread" Sweet you confirmed it. Good scrap, this is what was needed for both guys. Now GB has no excuse to fight the winner.
Vanes said he wants "in writing" that he gets a guaranteed shot at Canelo as he has already fought an eliminator that is already being ignored as the WBC continues to provide cover for Canelo.
The ACTUAL reason was that Vanes and TR wanted a guarantee that the eliminator ensures a shot at Canelo. Apparently, We Be Crooks wouldn't guarantee it.
Vanes claims he'll take this fight on twitter. How long do you guys give him before he changes his tune just like he always does? I expect Golden Boy will win the purse bid and all of the sudden money will again become a huge concern for Team Martirosyan.
Look how long it has taken Martinez to enforce his mandatory status on Jr. WBC. We Be Covering for our own.
He must have realized the division was passing him by... Vanes already made some comments about it on his twitter. (now lets see he don't get "Ortiz'd" on sat)
As long as the "Final" eliminator winners are not guaranteed a shot at the champion, GB have plenty of excuses not to fight the winner.
Vanes NEVER fought a final title eliminator. He wasn't misled or lied to in that instance, he was simply being a crybaby like always.
