Boxers with fabricated names

    I'm no expert on German or Russian, but I'm pretty sure that Shtikhlits and Stieglitz are German surnames, not Russian, no matter what way you spell them.

    Yeah, that's right. Think Pep shortened his first name from something that began with a G. Benny Leonard didn't use his real name either. Barry McGuigan's full first name was Finbarr too...

    There used to be a fairly sizeable population of guys with ethnic german ancestry for historical reasons - particularly in Kazakhstan. Germany had a repatriation law where these guys were allowed in. Stieglitz is one of them. However, by ancestry, I mean like guys in US who called themselves Scottish, i.e. they are basically Russians, and most likely to have mixed with other nations of the former USSR anyway.
