during their weigh-in, mathebula clearly towered over donaire. When nonito fights he almost always has the advantage in height, some even saying he fights against guys that are a weight or two below him. now that he faces a guy who clearly is bigger than him this time, how do you think this fight will go???:think

I'll be at the fight tomorrow. I'll tell how I think the fight will go after the fight is done.

Mathe really isn't that good though. He struggled terribly with weight drained Caballero and still managed to lose that one, and Cabellero is nowhere near Nonito skill wise. Donaire will win but Mathe will have his moments.

    +1.

Donaire needs to utilize his speed and skills. If he had a proper training camp, he should not have a problem.

Cmon, that was when Caba had 2 belts and was ranked top 10 p4p by the ring. Math was expected to struggle lol, in Panama.

Nice! :good I hvae a feeling it's going to be a highly technical "hardcore fan" fight. . . We might get some sweet two-way exchanges, though. . .

On one hand, I'd have rather him fought Mijares, who has a style more hand-made for Donaire, and we'd at least more than likely get to see one of Donaire's patented "one shot n' drop" KO counters. . .

But on the other hand, Mathebula presents much more of a challenge, and he brings dynamics to the fight that Donaire has not experienced; so, in turn, this has potential to be Donaire's most difficult fight to date (NOT saying he's better than Darchinyan, and Montiel, but you know hte cliche - styles make fights. . . )

Lol come on breh. . . Caballero at the time was a beast to deal with at 122. . . If he was weight drained, so was Mathebula, because they are built identically. . There's no evidence to support this theory. . .

To fight to a SPLIT DECISION with Caba in Panama (at the time, especially) says a lot about Mathebula. . .

Aside from his lone KO loss almost a decade ago, he's dropped two close SD (one he avenged). . .

This is a very interesting fight. . . On paper anyway - whether or not it plays out like that is always a different story. . .

Personally, I'm very much anticipating how Donaire deals with the length/height dynamic, when he has been acclimated to being the taller, rangier fighter in the past. . We already know basic boxing skills, timing, and patience can give Donaire a little bit of trouble in spots (but he seems to adapt nicely, as he is one of the rare "read, and react" boxers). . . Mathebula should AT THE VERY LEAST give Donaire some new looks. . .

Being that Mathebula fights like a poor mans Celestino Caballero, bad feet, no footwork, minimal defense, etc. Mathebula's height won't matter. Donaire should win by highlight reel KO. Mathebula fights more primitively than Vazquez Jr.

Caballero actually has very good balance, which is why he is able to get away with fightign so awkwardly. . . His feet are pretty dexterous. . .

It is also a misconception that all because you don't utilize an outfightign style, that height, and moreover "limb length" cannot present difficult dynamics for a shorter boxer to deal with. . .

I'd disagree. . . He's not elite world class, but he's a fringe world class guy. . . He is easily a top 5 boxer at 126 right now; moreover, his style, despite looking sloppy, is overwhelming, and difficult.
