Lomachenko was also coming up from 57 kg because the AIBA dropped the division when they restructured the lower weightclasses. Ramirez was much bigger and Lomachenko still won comfortably, even scoring a KD that was missed. The gap in talent and technique was noticeable.

What I find gauling is all these America uberalis assholes who declaire a fighter like Ramirez a boxing prodigy without even knowing who he will be facing or in this case who has already comfortably defeated him.

Irresposible journalism and toadyism at it's finest.

I didn't realise that was the reason for Lomachenko's move to 60kg.. I think Lomachenko has grown/trained into the division as he fought at 64kg in a recent tournament in Ukraine. He's going to cut and be strong in London :p
I've also just noticed that Russia's Selimov didn't qualify, I was really hoping to see Lomachenko fight him again at 60kg.. very disappointing.

Which fighters in particular? I can't confidently predict 1 gold for the Cuban's, their 81kg fighter is their best shot imo.

Damn.. is there any word of Selimov going pro? A rematch in the pro ranks would be even sweeter :D

 I forgot about the Euro qualifier debacle. ****ing pathetic crooked Turks.

Even though Cammarelle looked like garbage and seemed his back injuries are catching up with him i still had him winning tht fight and against the German Pfeiffer it was stopped in the first round because of a very minor bloody nose. I saw others way worse that were allowed to continue.

    below

Ever since they eliminated 57 and Vasyl moved up to 60 he's been forced to do more inside fighting because alot of his opponents are considerably bigger than him. Toledo and Ramirez look like there 2 weigh classes above him and even though Valentino is the same height his shoulders, width of back etc he looks much bigger.

As a result his fights have been more competitive but it's been fun to watch and encouraging as his inside game is damn excellent and it's something we haven't seen much from him before.

    Lomachenko 60 - 2011 Gold
    Berynchyk 64 - 2011 Silver
    Shelestyuk 69 - 2011 Gold
    Khytrov 75 - 2011 Gold
    Gvozdyk 81
    Usyk 91 - 2011 Gold

Everyone except Gvozdyk got medals at Worlds and all of them including Gvozdyk are medal contenders in London. Lomachenko, Usyk, Khytrov are very likely to medal. Berynchyk good chance, Gvozdyk is a dark horse that will suprise many and has a good chance. Shelestyuk is most likely to not repeat a medal performance imo but i have underestimated him before.

If they don't walk away with at least 3 medals, (2 Gold) it would be a big disappointment.

I've got my eye on Khytrov after the Worlds, he really impressed me there with his style and power, especially when he KO'd that Romanian in the semis. Of course I'll watch Lomachenko closely too, one must always keep an eye on brilliance.

Cuba will shock the world , they got a LOT to prove , hopefully there won't be no robberies in London . Their team is really talented , from Veitia (46/49 Kg) to Savon ( +91 Kg ) and Larduet ( 91 Kg ) to De la Cruz ( 81 Kg ) . I'm VERY impressed with this team , they're all young , hungry and seem to carry a chip on their shoulder . Watch and enjoy . Peace .

Yeah i absolutely love watching Khytrov too. Oleksandr Usyk's brilliance is on par with Vasyl imo. If you're not too familir with him watch his fights from Worlds.

Toledo and Iglasis (spelling) are probably regarded as the two most talented no? I ****ing hate Cruz, he's everything wrong with amateur boxing.

I like them both , specially Toledo , the problem with Iglesias is that he's not consistent of late ( he used to be when he was younger ) , he can reach the finals but I don't think he'll win it , it's something about his psyche that lets him down at the end , he's 24 now ( will be 25 in August ) and this should be his last Olympics so he has to give 100% and win anything , then he should defect ( IMO ) . You're right about De la Cruz , that guy has the UGLIEST boxing style I have seen in years but he's as consistent as night & day , don't know how he does it but he ALWAYS wins , he's award , tall and stringy and have a great wining mentality . My fav for Gold are Veitia ( 49 Kg ) , Larduet ( 91 Kg ) , De la Cruz ( 81 Kg ) and Savon ( +91 Kg ) . Let's see how it goes , can't wait . Peace .
