Should Lennox Lewis' missed punch that cut Vitali be considered a No Contest?

When there is an accidental headbutt that creates a cut that causes the fight to be stopped the decision is ruled a no contest. Why then was this not the case in the Vitali vs Lewis fight?

The whole fist of Lewis' glove completely missed Vitali, and it was the inside of the wrist that he rubbed against Vitali's face that caused the cut. This is obvious for many reason. The first being that HBO showed the slow motion replay of the missed punch and said "Here is the punch the cut Vitali". Perhaps the most obvious sign is the fact Vitali had 2 cuts on his face on top of one another approximately the size of Lewis' wrist apart.

So the question is this why is an accidental headbutt considered a no contest, yet a completely missed punch in which the wrist of a glove cuts someone is considered fair game? Both require no skill, both are luck, and both have nothing to do with boxing. Is this a possibly new under utilized tactic fighters should use now? To swipe their wrist and laces across a fighters face in hopes of cutting him?

    I'll be the ****.

I love Lennox and Vitaly, but Lennox is the better man and won legitimately.

The rules of boxing are: "defend yourself at all times." Regardless of how badly you think that fate was to Vitaly, he did not defend himself. Hence, a legit TKO.

This is the first I have heard of a missed punch from the partisans. I have heard of raking with laces, a headbutt, etc. Seems the narrative changes amongst those who just can't admit that Vitaly put up a great effort and lost.

The loss should be noted and respected, it was a close fight, but Lewis aint coming back, so there is no point bringing it up. It could go on forever!

No, the win is a win. . technically, it's TKO6.

There should just be an asterik next to it, denoting Lewis a *****, and coward for life :)

no, because its already considered a TKO6 that Vitali will never live down. The more he acheives, the greater he makes Lewis look.
