Quillin Turns Down Golovkin Fight

It's a duck, plain and simple. But an understandable duck to make. Quillin will get an easier title shot for more money down the line. Not saying it's right, but this is the way almost every fighter in the game operates.

wba interim title, thats not even the
WBA regular title which gets beat by a
WBA super champion belt...

not sure if IBF have interim titles

Marvin hagler went 8 years and 42-2 before he was given a shot at the middleweight title...they purposely were blackballing him...he even got congress to look into why he was getting passed over each and everytime by lesser fighters.
then he had a 15 round draw where he was robbed. rematch ? nope..3 more fights and a year later

point is, youre right...where as hagler fought his way and demanded a title shot , these DICKS today turn title shots down...its unheard of its more business than sport

 

I can understand why Quillin would turn it down, Triple G would derail that hype train quick.

It's a far cry from the old days to see challengers turning down title shots. Back then some of the best fighters of all time never got their crack, only got one shot, or had to wait until they were past prime to get it. Guys like Langford, Wills, Burley, Mike Gibbons, Packy Mcfarland, etc.
