I'd match him against this kind of opponent for the next two or three fights. I'd get a southpaw, a taller guy, a squat guy.... give him a wide range of experience against fighters that aren't overly dangerous, but can pose a few problems, perhaps test his chin out a bit too. Lately we've become too focused on getting opponents with pretty looking records and/or ''NEVER BEEN STOPPED'', which means they'll promptly fall over. A while back Gavin had an opponent who'd won as many as he'd lost - all the losses coming against the better opponents.... but was selected because he'd not been stopped. KO1 :-(
Totaly agree, a loss (whilst you dont want any) earlier in your career I believe can help more later on in your career. Learn from mistakes but more mentally, lots of examples of these Froch, Burns, Khan to think of a few.
This is a very rough and ready fight for Eubank Jr, He did alright with Matthews who didn't take the chances to lead off. Terry will throw, he's willing to be hit to hit and this could be a fascinating fight if Carruthers unsettles Eubank Jr. He's on a fine run of form as well, Was at the Qato fight and i know him and a fair few in crowd including my father felt he won. I had it close without scoring the fight. With Eubank Jnr being open to right hand and Carruthers willingness to let it go i think this is a risky but great match up. Terry's not the biggest of bangers but if Eubank hasn't learned to tighten his defence to that shot in gym then he'll learn win, lose or draw tomorrow night IMO. Carruthers isn't the sort of fighter you want to give success to because he'll gain more and more confidence and keep coming forward. Can't wait for this and tomorrow night :happy.
Why do they keep putting him in with people unable to throw an effective punch? Other than that, it's difficult to grumble. It's not an "OMG! Look how quickly Jr is being moved"! match, but it's perfectly acceptable.
I didn't ask for him to be put in against a good fighter. I'm not asking for him to be put in against somebody with punching power. I'm asking for him to be put in against someone that knows how to throw a punch. What does that have to do with that fact Eubank Jr is a novice?
He's actually been in with a few half decent journeymen, who have tested him a bit, your hate for Eubank has clouded your judgment. Jason Ball and Mattews certainly knew how to throw a punch, they tested Eubank Jr, but you want him in with good fighters when he has limited amateur experience and very few pro fights, fffs.
Compared to the usual 2-189-6 journeymen I'm quite pleased the way they are pushing him. It's either crap like that or 11-0 feared bangers from Azerbaijan or wherever. Must think we're all ****ing daft.
That is not correct, he has been in with very poor journeyman, but as Eubank is very poor, it is around the correct level for him.
