He swings wild he's a KO waiting to happen and his opponent is an old **** and his resume suck so far so quit the hype you'll regret it.
He'd better be careful about winging hook after hook, but he's definitely a talent and fights in entertaining style. Look forward to watching him grow.
featherweight is the best division right now, Gamboa, salido, john, gonzalez, mickey garcia, garry russel jr,Hasegawa, rafael marquez, Celestino Caballero,Juanma and then you'v got guys who could easily jump up like donnaire, Rigondeaux,Nishioka,Wilfredo Vazquez Jr
good talent, speed and power. exciting to watch left hook looked a little loopy. saw quite a bit of holding on the back of the head and punching against cruz and i think thats what cruz was complaining about.
Fortuna is one of those fighters I will be watching to see his growth. The dude has power and speed, but I will like to see how he will perform once he goes into deep waters and someone who could handle his shots. The wild shots made me a little unhappy, but the KO put a smile. He is definately one of my favorite FNF prospects to keep an eye out.:good
Between campillo, fortuna, that Russian banger and sexy sergio Pablo Sarmiento has a nice little stable going for him right now
I see what you mean about the left hook but Cruz was leaning forward slightly when he got hit on the back of the head so not entirely Fortunas fault Be better to see him in against one of the Japanese champions Takashi Uchiyama or Takahiro Ao. Perhaps even Juan Carlos Burgos for the silver title who coincidentally he fought Cruz for previously Funny thing is I wasnt even going to tune in to watch this as the only noticeable fighter I knew was Cruz Im going to have to get back into watching Friday fight nights more often, gives you hope for the future of boxing
This is a profile I did on him a few fights back. It tells his beginnings. The kid is the goods. Him vs. Russell should be fun someday. http://www.maxboxing.com/news/max-boxing-news/javier-fortuna-a-fighters-journey-begins
Did you see his fight with Veteran Micky Roman? The WBC held it at they're last convention. Roman took him to deep waters, kept coming, gave him his first true fight. He needs some more of them.
first off, they are called prospects for a reason. second, he was swinging wild because he had absolutely NO fear of his opponent and no respect for his punching power. what the **** you expect him to step in the ring vs the best right away? this was his 2nd fight on ESPN moron. Both fights ended in BRUTAL BRUTAL KNOCKOUT. morons like you disgust me. you have the nerve to criticize this kids resume? look at mayweathers early fights, look at pacquiao's first 20 opponents or Cottos. Even is Fortuna wanted to fight the best in the division tomorrow, its not like they would give him the chance fool. he is a threat and putting your belt on the line against an up and comer is a lose lose situation. beat him and you get little respect cuz you are supposed to beat him if your a champ. lose, and your finished. quit hating. real boxing fans enjoy watching these up and comers. of course he needs to sharpen his skills and shorten up his shots, no one said he doesnt. thats why hes steppin up the competiton with every fight. its how fighters are SUPPOSED to progress. the fact i have to explain it to you is annoying.atsch
I could not have said it better!!!!! Amen to that!! The problem is that people have not seen him when he has decided to box and not brawl. He has the skills and I do notice that once he feels he can take the opponents punch it's like he smells blood and goes all out. It is not what he did with Roman Martinez...he actually boxed pretty well against him. People should watch a few fights before they go on and criticize the kid. He has a lot of potential and is one of those fighters that are exciting to watch because you just never know when the ko will come.
