I was just wondering about current and past boxers measurements and size like bicep size. I once read Roy Jones jnr at super Middleweight only had 14 inch biceps which i couldn't believe and prime Tyson at 16 inches which i thought was way too small as that is around my size and i'm only 5.9 and about 79kg. Does anyone know how big the arms were of past greats like Ali, Frazier, Holmes, Marciano and Foreman. How do they compare with current boxers. The Klit Brothers look like they have awesome builds and have low bodyfat levels as well. they look much leaner than Ali and Frazier did in the 70's so it would be interesting to know what bodyfat percentage all of these boxers generally get/got into the ring with. Its always mentioned how everyone in the 70's was afraid of Foreman and his size yet he only weighed 220 pounds when he fought Ali. He was less than four pounds heavier and only 1 inch taller at most, yet eveyone acted like he was a huge monster who was going to kill Ali yet he was only a fraction bigger. So was he really that big back then. Sonny liston was about 216 pounds and he was considered a monster back in the day but again was he really that big, were his biceps and arms thicker than Tyson's or Lennox lewis. Would love to here from anyone who has accurate stats on any past or present fighters.
Shannon the Cannon Briggs' arms are probably over 20 inches Ali was quite lean in his 2 liston fights and all his 60's fights There are some huge bodybuilder type boxers around club level often they dont get to the top. Heavy muscle mass has a big oxygen dept so your better off being skinny fat like Larry Holmes than tanked out like Vin Diesel and the Rock its harder to keep throwing punches when your huge
Kid, size has nothing to do with it. Fighters were afraid of George Foreman. Foreman was 6'4 and 220-225 pounds. He was one of the hardest hitters in history and he was mean and angry. George was a monster and he certainly was big considering an average man is 5'9 and 185 pounds. Build and body fat and all of that has very little to do with a fighter's success. Skill matters more than size. "...although only 6’1” Liston had the dimensions of a “super-heavyweight.” His 84” reach is tied for third longest in boxing history with Lennox Lewis. His fists are the largest of any heavyweight champion, 15” the size of ham hocks. Liston had a powerful shotgun jab to go along with his long reach, and he also possessed debilitating punching power with his powerful left hook and devastating uppercuts. Sonny had a strong chin, failing to last the distance only in the controversial Ali fights and towards the end of his career against Leotis Martin. His overall record of 50-4, 39 knockouts is quite good. He was a solid technician in the ring and one of the few heavyweight greats who fought well inside and outside." David Tua was only 5'10" and 200 pounds when he stared fighting but his power was enough to KO any man. Tyson was only 215 pounds when he KO'd the 6'6 250 pound Sammy Scaff in round one. Also,Magomed Abdusalamov is 6'3" and 220-230 pounds today but is one of the hardest hitters in the heavyweight division. He is similar to Foreman. Yes these guys were monsters.
Boxers are not body builders. All these pretty boy actors with big muscles would tire easily and they are not built for strength and fighting. Those guys train for looks only. They would get pushed across the room by even a small fighter like Adrien Broner.
I think they take those biceps sizes unflexed at the sides. Roy's arms were a damn sight bigger than mine. Pretty boy floyds 13 measurement makes sense if they are down by his sides but they are probably closer to fifteen flexed.
Jones has big biceps.. Doesn't necessarily mean 20 inch arms. 3/4 of your arms is your tricep and he definitely had a lot more bicep. Around his HW fights I do think I remember his arms being around 16 inches?? Or could be wrong... Also you have to realize the guys your mentioning are SOLID freakin muscle. Go look up a 150 pound body builder, and look how big there arms/ legs look. Some *big* people would look bigger if they dropped 20 pounds and there muscles showed some definition. This is why guys like Tyson, Jones, Mike Jones (not to mention he has no legs), Bradley, etc look huge.
They are probably not huge, but Roy's arms flexed are WAY over 15 inches. In the avatar, my arms are 15 inches. I am 5'8''. Here is Roy at 160, he is like 5'11''. This content is protected got to be at least 16.25 or more.
well tysons neck was 20inchs around , there was a website i was on years ago that had all the boxers stats ill try and find it and link it on here
Yeh Tyson may have been only 215 pounds but that was packed on a stocky 5'10 frame and short powerful arms. Most of it was muscle too not much flab. And that huge ass of his gave those uppercuts plenty of power. Jones jnr looks really ripped in that pic and his arms look huge for a 160 pounder.
I'm telling you right this moment. Tyson is not 5'10. Forget what you heard, Tyson is shorter than what you heard. Lol.
Not much lower. I dont think its two inches of arm fat. Go to my page click on my albums. Those shots are at 128 to 130 pounds and Floyd is my height and heavier.
