Relax, that's basically what I meant, I should have said best "matchup" for him and that if Sonnen doesn't beat him I don't see anybody touching him should he choose to continue which I hope he does.

Except Fedor did longer than him for close to a decade...

Yes, and that run will not likely ever be touched but at the same time MMA after 2006 does still count even if it's not Pride.

I say it's Fedor, but it isn't by a lot. Fedor defeated 2 other fighters capable of ruling the division in Cro Cop and Nogueira. Silva's resume stacks up well, but I don't think any of his opponents were capable of beating everyone in the division outside of Siva.

what title did Fedor defend 11x?
Anderson Silva is unbeatably the best reigning champion with him being two years the senior than fedor.

for that alone is enough to secure his place @ 1.

    Bye.

Yes if you want to put it like that.

I didn't wanted to be rude or anything but the past weeks have been kinda crazy with alot of people talking **** about Sonnen and I'm kinda fed up with it...

The guy isn't good, at least IMO, he has nothing special and even though for me it's no big deal, well we obviously saw that he is a ****in drug cheat.

So syaing Sonnen is Anderson best win, in the sense greatest opponent, is simply facetious.

I just hope it's the last time we have those kind of debate !

Artur Grigorian defended his WBO belt in boxing at least 18 or 19 times if i recall. If the bench mark for greatness was just defending belts you'd have a point. In addition the fact he is older than Fedor is thoroughly academic. That's the kind of empty reasoning children make.
A fighters greatness is defined upon who he beat, when he beat them, how he beat them, the competition in his era, and the length of his run. Whether you like it or not NO FIGHTER past or present comes close to Fedor's run or destruction against TOP ATG opposition in their prime. And yet you are salivating over Silva's victory over a guy who is nothing more than a journeyman. Sonnen is a guy that has a loss to Terry Martin. That tells us all we need to know about his level. But you want to relegate Fedor's greatness in favor of a routine defence over a tin can with a big mouth?
    Yeah you're right Bye.

No he's not. Silva is a stud. Certainly the best fighter ever at 185 with an improbable run in the UFC that is uncontested. But apart from Dan Henderson and just barely Rich Franklin who he utterly owned twice his resume in the UFC is thin in respect of talent. The guys he's beating are many pegs below him. But 85 historically has always been a weak division in the UFC. But equally it shows the gulf between Silva and everyone else.

Man is just too hard to rate AS over Fedor when Fedor has wins over that version of Nog and Cro Cop.....I can“t do it.

Silva has 5 wins over Champions since he joined the UFC. Id hardly call that a can crusher. Who was Silva's weakest opponet ? Probably Patrick Cote which isnt that bad at all. Fedor ? I can name like 6-7 cans he fought in his "incredible reign"

In recent time I think Silva has set himself apart with with the easy Belfort win and the over coming adversity twice against Sonnen. He's done the hurdles I wanted to see in a skilled striker and tenacious wrestler. With Lombard, maybe Evans etc in sight, he can go further. In addition to all the records he breaking, we must consider how well he is fighting at this age.
