I would pick the Hopkins Roy beat H2H against the version Calzaghe beat. He was much better physically, way busier of a fighter, didn't have that work rate problem that Jermain Taylor exposed in Hopkins' old age. He wasn't as crafty, but that craftiness alone wansn't gonna beat a fighter like Joe, you have to be able to keep up with his work rate.

You say Calzaghe landed more on Hopkins?? who cares, that's not how you judge a fight anyway.. I would rather take any 3 punches from Joe in the Hopkins fight, than a single one from a Prime Roy.

Who would you say beat Hopkins more clear? Roy or Joe?

If you want to involve yourself in the debate, explain how Bernard Hopkins doesn't rank above Dick Tiger? in MW and ATG history.

You would really pick that version who couldnt beat Mercado at first ask to the version that beat Tarver?
Well I wont get into it with you if you really think that.
With Taylor it was Hopkins who had Taylor hurt in the second half and finished the stronger down the stretch, so I disagree with what you say there also and Hopkins finished the stronger both times against Pascal even later on in his career.
Hopkins didnt have a work rate problem against Pavlik

I am saying I would pick the Hopkins that showed up against Roy over the Hopkins that showed up against Joe.. Mercado and Tarver have nothing to do with it.

Hopkins couldn't keep a fast pace for 12 whole rounds, which is the only reason he lost to Taylor.. He came on strong at the end, because he gave way too many early rounds away by doing nothing.

Pavlik was made for Hopkins, wasn't very fast, one dimensional had no answer for Hopkins.

Hopkins still looks good against opponents that allow him to do his thing.. He simply wasn't physically able to stay at a Calzaghe type pace IMO, the younger Hopkins would have done better against Calzaghe.

Except against Calzaghe, I cant recall a fight where Hopkins didnt finish strong down the stretch.
What about Wright and Tarver then? Hopkins finished strong there and Wright was a physical fight and Pascal also years later

None of the fighters you mentioned fight like Calzaghe.
