Rigondeaux would of ended Mathebula in 2 rounds!

I'm not saying Rigo's a runner. I'm saying that he's a very little man, and Mathebula is a very big man - he would have a TON of distance to close. Not exactly the ideal style match up for a counterpuncher. Mathebula's arms are very long, so he wouldn't have a ton of issue deflecting Rigo's body shots and protecting his chin. And Rigo would have to stretch pretty far just to touch Mathebula's head, thus sapping him of power.

Here's why I think you're wrong. Mathebula didn't fight tall, he jab was decent, but he dropped it every time he brought it back. Donaire just doesn't know how to cut off the ring. He would rather dance around with his hand down. He even stopped at times to trade punches. Mathebula is wide as **** Rigo would of thrown his **** right down the middle.

He'd have a lot of distance to close but he's pretty goos at doing that with his speed and movement. Mathebula isn't great at keeping guys on the outside either - in general, smaller fighters don't seem to have that much trouble getting to him.

Yeah, he's got long arms but there's a whole lot of body to aim at; there;s no way he's protecting it all night against an expert body-puncher, especially one who's best asset is his counter-punching. Every time he lets a power-punch go, he's going to be leaving that skinny body wide open. I jst don't see Rigo having too many issues getting to it.

I agree that Rigo would KO Mathebula within the first half of the fight. . ANd that's not an insult to Mathebula at all. . . Style wise, Rigo would simply feast off his awkward aggression, and lack of speed: He would find soo many openings in Mathebula - mainly to the body, and ribcage, where Rigo's short height would enable him to get, and stay inside of his punching range, and just FEAST on them ribs. . .

Who told you that Montiel was of a high caliber? Montiel was not more than the 7th best bantamweight. He wasn't better than anybody in the bantam tournament, and he wasn't better than Moreno, or Donaire. Montiel has lost to every decent fighter he has fought. The only reason he beat Hasegawa was because Hasegawa could no longer comfortably make Bantam, as we saw when he moved up two weight classes for his next fight after Montiel.

Rigo is dangerous and heavy handed but he also isnt an aggressive fighter

Kellerman had him pegged right a counter punching power puncher

Rigo can hurt you at any time but he is not a finisher, he takes the opportunities he is given and takes them with power

he doesnt force his KO's or make them happen

his finishes are based on using openings and mistakes and landing powerful lefts

Unless Rigo catches the guy on a big counter the fight could really take an unpredictable amount of time to end

Some of you people live in a fantasyland. When Rigo has fought awkward guys like that, his punch output has dropped dramatically. He's a very cautious fighter. Also, while he's ugly, Mathebula is also pretty good, a legitimate titlist and probably better than anyone Rigo has actually fought to date (maybe a similar level to Cordoba, but way the hell better than Rigo's last two joke opponents). Rigo would have won, but via even more boring decision.

I wonder if these people have ever watched Donaire fight before or if they realized he goes out to put on a show? Last night reminded me of the guy he decided to fight left handed. He did that for a long time knowing that if he had too he could simply go back to conventional and win easy, which he did. Last night at the end of the 10th Garcia basically said 'stop ****ing around'. We see what happened then.

Cordoba has a different style than Mathebula. . .

I agree that Mathebula was a legitimate champ, and he does have a deceivingly difficult style. . But I think Rigo's style would feast off Mathebula's style. . . Who is the best body puncher by far at the weight, and Mathebula's body is WIDE DA FUQ OPEN. . Just imagine little Rigo being eye level to his ribs - he'd be licking his chops - turning some VICIOUS hooks over right into those ribs.

Like Nonito, Rigo is more about precision and a low output fighter. Unlike Nonito, he likes to take his time. They are like fire and ice. I think actually Nonito might have a stylistic advantage over Rigo because he likes to pressure, alot of using angles and bobbing and weaving to get inside, and it's something Rigo did not have a good showing against Cordoba.Different types of pressure, but pressure nonetheless. Nonito is very capable of getting Rigo out of his comfort zone. As Nonito has stated he likes to check out every style out there so he knows what he's up against. Nonito is also abit unorthodox and has Roy Jones Jr like reflexes. No doubt Rigo would of finished off Mathebula, but I don't think it would of been in 2 rounds. As lanky as Mathebula was and bad balance he had, Rigo is a perfectionist his priority is defense first, not seek and destroy like Nonito. The bodyshots would of probably stopped Mathebula late in the fight. He would of been wary of Rigo's power and Rigo would of had to work alittle extra than normal to avoid the long jab and get inside. Not rocket science.

Right, but with opening Mathebula provided how wouldn't he exploit them?

it could look like his last fight where he decks the guy a bunch of times but takes him a little longer than most power guys would

its not an insult or anything but he just doesnt goo after guys

Mathebula after the first or second time hitting the canvas may not make the same mistake im not sure

i just think it would last more than 2 rounds
