Not high on Pavlik's chances after last night

I'm trying to get someone who I think can keep it real here.
Des,let's look at this from the outside.I haven't seen the fight,but I've always said it's a miracle he's even fighting,and to lose the peak years he did makes me think that getting back amongst the elite is just too big an ask.
Judging this on purely boxing terms(albeit allowing for his problems and time away) if this was a fighter you had no interest or emotional investment in,how would you assess his comeback and progress?
My fear for him is that he was just an elite fighter and no more.To lose the time he did will leave him too much of a mountain to climb.
If he doesn't perform well against a big name in the fight after next(or even next) it just ain't gonna happen IMO.

It isn't a joke, nuthugger, it is a Fact. The guy is shot to **** and the booze was the catalyst. Pavlik is the joke. He should retire because there is not one ranked SMW he can beat.

 

Froch should take some time out to clear his alcoholic ass off the boxing stage.

 

I think he needs more work before taking his shot. If he wants to reach the top of the division, he needs to step up and whoop up on a good opponent. Reading between the lines and watching his fight, I don't think his confidence is fully there yet. Although i will say it is often unwise to try to read too much into a post-fight interview, I like what he had to say about what he needs to do.

As for the fight itself, I was unimpressed with Pavlik. As others have said, it didn't seem like he could pull the trigger to some degree, but I also didn't like alot of his shot selection. And I think Rosinsky did a good job with his movement, I though there were a few times where Pavlik really could have put some hurt on him against the ropes, and at times put some good combos together, It just seemes he wasn't sure what to throw when.

I think Rosinsky deserves alot of credit though. I think he fought about as good a fight as he could have, but was just outgunned. And despite what I said about Pavlik not bringing his A game, I think there was enough there to say he may make some noise going forward. Just a little less confident than I was before the fight.

He's fighting often, but not often enough.

I'd of had him fight eleven times, in twelve months.

I'm starting to think it's all an exercise in futility though.:-(

 

I've thought that all along mate. You can see that his timing is long gone. He wasn't fast to begin with, and he's lost most of his physical advantages now he's at a higher weight.

If he can't make 160, then he won't do anything of relevance.

 

I'd like to add that Pavlik has always had trouble with movers. And Rosinsky did that well. I'd like to see him in there with banger and see how he does.
