Boxing a sport/game of science, so why are pressure fighters deemed as amazing?

You see guys like Rios, Maidana, Hatton, even Carson Jones using pressure, walking forward with gloves up just swinging their hands hoping that they will get that K.O along the way. Even though there's no intelligence or finesse involved in that style of fighting, people still seem to hold these kind of fighters in high regard, but why?

I understand it's entertaining to see 2 guys throw bombs at each other, hoping for a K.O, but shouldn't the intelligent fighters be praised more? What's the point of this sport being called "sweet science" when you have guys who just want to throw bombs and defend punches with their faces instead of being forced into using intelligent boxing skills.

    Opinions?

Pressure fighting, properly done, is very technical in it's own right.

Not every pressure fighter is a brawler

If you don't see the 'science' in what they do, find another sport.

Watch Julio Cesar Chavez Sr vs Rosario, Haugen, Camacho etc and you will realise what a **** thread this is.

If you still don't realise that after watching these fights, log off and register with eastsidevolleyball.com instead.

Being shoulder to shoulder with an opponent with limited vision and being able to predict, dodge, time, and land punches accurately is one of the most, if not the most, difficult aspects of boxing. An ugly or rough fight is not necessarily one fought without great skill. If anything, aggressive inside fighting is underrated as crude brawling.

    Now behold.

There are many different styles and ways of boxing, all of them should be appreciated and accepted.

However I do believe those who portray the 'sweet science' at its best deserve the greater recognition.

They are. The last time I checked Ray Robinson was deemed to be the GOAT by the masses.

Where's the science in Rios' fight game? Take the Murray fight, they just stood there hitting each other, there was no skill involved AT ALL!! Hatton was effective sometimes, but soon got sussed out! And Maidana just relies on his power and has no skill. He's been effective because he's got a decent chin and power, but if it wasn't for that, I'm sure he would have been knocked out!
