I think Kessler would be the fight to make. Big Kessler fan but he's had his own health issues over the past couple years and he was dropped and hurt in his last fight. Don't know why everyone thinks Kessler would walk through him

I hope you are right. :D Maybe once I see the fight in a better format I'll change my opinion some. I never boxed/trained so I form 'impressions' when watching fights. Many times they serve me well. Sometimes I think I can pick out guys that have been around the lower levels of boxing because of the way they analyze fights. The focus on certain aspects of technique and lose the big picture. TFFP and Amsterdam were two that come to mind. Hence they ended up over rating Mijares and were surprised when a 'crude slugger' like Darchinyan man handled him.

I was not impressed with Pavlik either. He may have to move down to middle weight his punches were not really doing enough damage imo.

He should be able to get back where he was he has been training hard, I don't get it. He did avoid a question about his drinking in a recent interveiw that Hermit put up here.

In the inteveiw that Hermit posted here he said he is walking around at 172 pounds. That seems light enough to cut down to middle weight to me.

Did you notice that he seemed less bulked up last night. I know you thought his back was getting to broad in his other two fights. I thought the same thing I could see his back was more heavily muscled, but last night he was looking less pumped up.

I am starting to think Pavlik is still drinking he avoided the question about his drinking in the interveiw. Either that or he has lost some of his ability due to slight neurological damage. I hope the problem is just he is working on new things.

this is the same guy that demolished Taylor some 5 years ago?

I'm sorry but the Ghost is past it. He needs to think of a new career. He's cashing out which is fine but you can tell he's not a world class boxer anymore.

Forgot about that. He claimed to go back into camp at 172 for this fight. I think he knows he lost the shot at Jr so his incentive to go back down is kinda less. More fights at 168 right now if he does well. If he doesn't do well, then maybe he does a Taylor and gets his axe back down.

yeah i read where he said he was walking around at 172ish but he's also sounded pretty confident that he just can't cut the last 3-4 lbs. they just won't come off.

if he could get down and get a crack at martinez and chavez...he would have done it already. he looked a little leaner in this fight but he also looks like, with age, he is filling out a bit.

Kelly has never done anything at 168 to suggest he troubles Froch. He moves far too straight, whilst one thing Carl has in abundance is (weird) angles.
If anything,Froch is totally wrong for Pavlik.

It was a little disturbing how Pavlik was not really hurting Rosinsky that much, but then again maybe Pavlik does not need to knock guys out to win.

He is capable of outpointing guys like Taylor and maybe even Martinez. Maybe it does not matter if his power is not as good at 168.

I just hope this is Pavlik working on new things because that was not good enough for guys like Froch imo.

i'm not buying into this whole "power not carrying" thing. the problem is that he hasnt snapped off a 1-2 like he used to throw in years. he's gotten away from his jab which is what set it up. i don't know if its timing or distance control or what but its been a while since he was filling up the compubox with 1-2s

Yeah, and its been awile since he has consistently thrown close to 80 punches a round. I don't know the last time he threw 80 punches in a round. When he beat Taylor and the fights before it was normal for him.

I was hoping the punch output would come back once he stopped draining.

He looked a hell of a lot better last night than Bute looked in his last fight...
