He lived here for a while and has a few relatives, big deal. I admit he has some kind of a claim but he is more English than Irish and you can't be both.

That said, if he made a statement saying he considered himself Irish and not English, I would accept him 100%. But if he tries to claim both I wouldn't consider him Irish. Just my opinion.

Yes, I agree nationality is not black and white, that's why a fighter should choose one if he wants acceptance and wants to fight for the belts. They wouldn't let Cascarino play for both Ireland and England now would they.

Well since your father moved over here at 13 and has an Irish passport, but also was born and raised in England I'd say he has a claim on both, so if he considers himself Irish then as far as I'm concerned he is Irish.

Lets stay nice and civil now, there's no need to throw naughty words like "West Brit" around, using that term does't lend your argument any credence, but hey, maybe it makes you feel good. :good

Well how else were they supposed to teach you your Irish poem?

On another note anyone going to Mayo for the Coyle press conference?

Line up for Mayo,Jesus this lads record is the most padded iv ever seen.
Murrays opponent isnt that bad i suppose but Colados TBA doesnt inspire confidence.
Donnellan in another interesting one this time against Cruise over 8 as some sort of Irish title eliminator im told.(thats if Healy doesnt spark him first which is quite possible)and the block will bring a big crowd im sure.
Local derby of debutants to kick off with, not a great card to be honest but it looks like a local card with a few local rivalries so im sure it will be well attended.

Fs, bui is going to strip fury of irish heavyweight title. Isn't this the same title that Kevin Mcbride held for 15 years while he was living in America? I didn't see the beginning of the maddalone fight. Was he introduced as the reigning Irish champion? If so, he's done more for that title than anyone in ages.

Christ, he only started boxing at 22? Something about these lads from the west and starting boxing late in life. Shur that Devanney fella only started relatively recently too.
