I didn't pay for it I watched it free this morning via a Hungarian link. I would pay not to watch that crap. Thompson has not been ranked by The Ring at any time during 2012, he is 40 years old ,you believe what you want to ,some of us are dry behind the ears, and are not so gullible.
Not sure the thread starter is even following the current scene. Helenius is talking "retirement" from his claimed injuries. Dimitrenko is probably done after Pulev beat him to a bloody pulp and put him out of the rankings. Povetkin is the only peer Wlad has left that doesn't share his surname, but the Russian has pulled out of two scheduled fights already with Atlas claiming "he's still not ready." Pulev is the best upstrat but I don't see him taking Wlad just yet. Same goes for Fury. So the only thing Wlad can really do is fight guys like Thompson, maybe Arreola, Adamek, and other middle of the road types with nothing to lose until Povetkin or the new blood can step up.
Thompson just showed very little there, not even as spirited an effort as his first fight against Wladimir in which he still noticeably quit trying at the end. Humorously, both of the fights ended with Thompson in a sleeping position, supporting his head with the arm while waiting for the count of ten. I give him credit for taking up boxing around his 30's and gaining two world title shots, whether he deserved them or not. He was never talented in the game, but he gave it a shot, and he made it far higher than anybody expected due to the lack of quality in this particular era. Good for him, hope he realizes that it's over for him though. As for Wladimir, it's just another poor opponent for him. I reckon it's difficult to get up for a guy that is 40 years old and had already lost to Wladimir, but he always comes in shape. It's an attribute that separates him from a lot of fighters.
A post on here the other day said Helenius was fully recovered. Dimitrenko was no 4 in the July issue of the Ring. Where is your link? Are you seriously suggesting that Thompson was a suitable, and viable opponent ? Did you expect it to be a competitive fight? Did you think Thompson had a chance in hell even supposing he had an iota of ambition? Did you think Thompson;s record merited a title shot? If you answered yes to any of those questions ,you should watch wrestling , not boxing.
-Fact is Helenius hasn't been in the ring for going on 8 months. If he's healthy he needs to come out of his cave and make an official statement. Original reports said he could be done, or at the earliest be ready to train again in June. -Dimitrenko has been out of the rankings since Pulev raped him at the end of May. Haven't picked up the July issue but can only assume a typo or they didn't make the update in time. Pulev is the current #4. http://ringtv.craveonline.com/ratings/heavyweight -Lots of questions there, all of the answers are irrelevant.
Lets kill some myths, Wlad only has one shitty voluntary defense against a non-ranked opponent. 6 of the 7 were world ranked, 4 were top 5 or belt holders. When its up to him, Wlad seems to the chase the best opponents he can get in the ring. It's his mandatory opponents that have been dreadful but if he vacated the belts, people would be bitching about how he hasn't unified and isn't lineal..in fact they do that now. Jean Marc Mormeck David Haye #2 in the World, belt holder. Eddie Chambers #4 in the World, belt holder. Ruslan Chageav #3 in the World, belt holder, for Ring Belt. Tony Thompson I #9 in the World. Sultan Ibragimov #6 in the World, belt holder. Calvin Brock #7 in the World Mandatory Defenses: Tony Thompson II Samuel Peter, Povetkin pulled out of scheduled fight Haseem Rahman, Povetkin pulled out of scheduled fight Ray Austin, Lamon Brewster II
You assume wrong Dimitrenko was no 4 in May, no 4 in June, and is no 4 this month . Pulev in no 9 in this months magazine. Fact is Thompson was a joke as a challenger in a joke title defence that's the bottom line, end of. The answers are relevant if a boxing match is supposed to be a competitive activity ,this was a pre-ordained ,farcical ,foregone conclusion that stunk..

:-( What Wlad are you watching where he throws 70 punches per round?:blood Wladimir probably threw 70 punches throughout the enitre Thompson fight. He as fishing for his right hand, and he acted like he didn't understand that if you threw the jab..it sets up the right..Which is why Manny Steward had the usual record on repeat with "the jab! the jab! the jab! the jab!" in Wlad's corners between rounds. What left hook are you referring to? Wlad's left hook is horrible. Round 1 at :22 secs....Is that the left hook you are talking about? :-( Get out of here. The proof is in the tape. :nono Its funny to see people make a case for him though. It's like they are blinded by his big russianess and throw all boxing-sense out the window. Wladimirs own trainer isn't thoroughly impressed with Wladimir or Wlad's competition. Neither am I.
Never accused you of lying. Wlads last two challengers were 39 and 40 and both total crap. If you are correct, thats 5 of Wlad's challengers that were not ranked. I am old fashioned and read magazines ,so I have taken the ratings shown in the Ring. Now quit with the pidgin English ,or I'll make you MY *****.
-Like I said, I would assume the magazine made a mistake or just haven't bothered to update on the printed page in the last two months. -4 were not ranked by Ring: Austin, Mormeck, Rahman, and Peter.
