Since when was anyone comparing Haye to Hopkins or JMM?????
I would never put Haye anywhere near the class of those two. But regardless you haven't said anything that detracts from what i was saying. Haye moves, not allowing his opponent to get set or indeed land anything, picks his moments to feint, slip counter back off again. It works.

Against Valuev it may have been negative and as boring as **** but it worked. He hit Valuev 9 times every round and only got hit 3 times a round by rangefinder jabs. Hit and not get hit.

He also made Wlad miss a hell of a lot but just couldn't get into punching range against Wlad because Wlad was too good. Wlad never threw single shots and after each attack made sure to smother Haye if Haye was in range so the ref had to reset them or Haye was back peddleing to get out of range anyway. Or when Haye did slip the jab and tried to counter he was having to lunge into range at which point Wlad pulled him in and lent on his kneck or just moved out of range using his feet.

I'm not trying to make Haye out to be some master counter puncher. He has flaws, many of them. But he doesn't simply 'RUN' as you put it. There is some method to the madness.

    Chisora famous for losing.
Haye famous for retiring after being humiliated in his biggest fight.

That's an epic matchup... for the UK.. I guess.

I thought the 2 emoticons at the end sort of gave the sarcasm away. :huh

Dude if you can't see the merits in this fight then you cannot call yourself a boxing fan.

2 decent fighters who if you have the slightest understanding of boxing and can gauge fighters abilities using your own eyes and not going purely off of boxrec, you would see that this fight should gel nicely with the 2 styles and with the 2 genuinely not liking each other should add a bit of extra needle to it too.

Unless of course you're another so called boxing fan who would rather watch Wlad jab another no hoper into submission.

I'm pointing out examples from fighters who have mastered the techniques you are referring to.

Simply contrasting how it really works against what Haye is doing to show that he is not doing those things.

Its not "great footwork", "lateral movement" or anything skillful, no matter how you try to pretty it up.

Haye has shitty balance and fundamentals. He is simply running and darting around the ring, trying to showboat.

    He's a complete joke.

    Exactly.

Given their track records, and Haye's fear of engaging.. I don't see how anyone can expect some epic battle here.

    Its funny. :rofl

So you won't be watching it then?

Shame... could be a good entertaining HW fight.

You just stick to watching Wlad jabbing overmatched bums into submission, far more entertaining

Lateral movement = moving sideways. The clue is in the words used. Lateral movement is not some term used only in boxing to describe changing angles as you seem to define it. it is what it is. The ability to move sideways... fairly simple if you grasp the English language really

yet he managed to become a 2 weight world champion and a multi millionaire whilst being so ****, using those tactics that apparently is nothing more than him doing 400m in a boxing ring. With an over 80% KO ratio. Amazing stuff really

Good on him... if only the rest of us could be that successful by being able to run heh?!!

I don't like Haye, but I have to admit that he's the only fighter at heavyweight that I bother to watch. Wlad is utterly dull, and Vitali is old.

The usual suspects can't help find their way into the majority of Haye threads.

PolishPlumber must be on here somewhere as well.

I don't think its even televised in the US. Shocking, I know.

As for Wlad...hell yes I'd rather watch a future HOF'er with 58(KO 51)-3-0 and a KO% 83 fight anyone than watch David Haye embarrass himself fighting an oaf.

    Regarding the choice of opponents...

Wlad has beaten several good opponents. Chris Byrd (twice). Haye, McCline, Ibragimov, Rahman, Chagaev, Peter, Brewster were all World Champions at one point.

Chambers, Brock and Thompson were all good wins against top 10 fighters.

What you haters need to realize is that when you watch Wlad, you are watching history in the making.

One day you will have to explain to your son that you missed Wlad setting records because you were watching Haye vs. Dip**** in an epic battle of meaninglessness.

    Things you should consider....

Wlad is not afraid to fight "big punchers":

    Fighter/KO%

    Haye - 85%
Brewster -73% (and who had KO'ed Wlad previously...)
    Ibragimov - 70% (
Brock - 69% (who was undefeated at the time)
    Peter - 69% (twice)
Rahman - 68% (who previously KO'ed Lennox Lewis)
    Thompson - 63%

    Unbroken Championship Reign:
    12yrs 4 mos - Joe Louis (5/22/37-9/27/1950)
    7 yrs - Larry Holmes (9/6/78- 9/21/85)
    6 yrs 3 mos - Wladimir Klitschko (4/22/06-7/7/12)
    4 yrs - Mike Tyson (11/22/86-2/11/1990
    2yrs 9 mos - Lennox Lewis (2/7/97-11/11/2000)

    * 7yrs 2 mos - Vitali Klitschko - (4/24/04-2/18/12) - Broken by retirement, not by ring loss.

    * 4yrs 8 mos - Muhamad Ali - (10/30/74-2/15/78 ) - Stripped of lisc. by US government over bull****.

    Consecutive Title Defenses:
    26 - Joe Louis
    20 - Larry Holmes
    12 - Wladimir Klitschko
    10 - Muhamad Ali
    10 - Vitali Klitschko
    9 - Lennox Lewis
    9 - Mike Tyson

    Wins is World Title Fights:
    27 -Joe Louis
    21 - Larry Holmes
    19 - Wladimir Klitschko
    16 - Lennox Lewis
    14 - Vitali Klitschko
    14 - Muhamad Ali
    12 - Mike Tyson

    KO%
    87% - Vitali Klitschko
    84% - Wladimir Klitschko
    76% - Mike Tyson
    75% - Joe Louis
    73% - Lennox Lewis
    61% - Muhamad Ali
    59% - Larry Holmes
