Nice of eddie to put Kell Brook on Fury's undercard, a nice warm-up for tyson raking in a few million viewers
whs - despite so many of you poo-pooing young mr brook (and we all know what happens to poo-pooers!!) that fight will have gained kell far more exposure than all of his previous fights. imho it was one of the fights of the year - a real roller coaster that had everybody on the edge of their seats; the last round was scarcely watchable - people were screaming at the tv for brook to either hang on or just move ; and i think brook will have gained thousands of new fans for the heart he showed and for boxing 4 or 5 rounds with a busted nose. i also wonder whether that fight might be one of the best things that's happened to brook, but only if he learns the lessons all i can say in conclusion - what a fight - it'll last long in the memory
If people see an engaging fight that they surely enjoyed, they'll tune in again. Regardless of who's fighting. Keep providing interesting, competitive fights and clearly people will watch; and eventually come round to the idea that an '0' is not the be-all and end-all (the records of Froch and Khan will be helping that currently also, as opposed to Hatton and Calzaghe, who were 30odd - 0, but scarcely challenged).
Eddie Hearn hates half empty leisure centre shows(Maloney specialty imo) that looks awful on tv.If we we continue to see 3 live fights on ths bills then there is always room for small type classics ie British title fights, just not in a small hall.I would rather see 20 of then type of cards we saw on saturday the 40 of the old style friday night cards
U do know the whole country doesnt have sky sports and the whole country doesnt watch boxing. Good numbers for Kell and Matchroom. Looks like Sky betted right backing matchroom.
I think it's households rather than people, which makes a difference. Take children and OAPs out of the population numbers as well and the proportion of people watching the fight becomes much higher. It wa a good night for sky
Not that many people have Sky Sports, there was probably between 1 and 5 people in each household, then all the people who watched in the pub... what kind of ratings did you think boxing pulled? this is almost a record!
