Donaire's power is still pretty frightening at 122.

The only reason why we're not seeing it at full effect, is because his opponent's haven't been too keen in commiting themselves to taste it.

It's very good. Mathebula had never been dropped ever in his career. The power is still pretty obvious. The leverage, speed, and angles are pretty amazing. Some of those uppercuts Nonito threw very unorthodox and very similar Prince Naz with less air time of course. There were also those rumors of Nonito destroying or flooring a certain 140lber during sparring not too long ago. Sometimes the opponent's chin might be better than the opponent himself. Mathebula may not have a fan friendly style, but Nonito's face didn't get like that by itself. Even Nonito admitted he was a good fighter. Weak champ or not Mathebula was still a champ Mathebula isn't a chump. Obviously movers and technical fighters will be harder to ko or tko than fighters that stay right in front and trade. Mathebula tried his best to use his range and that probably saved him from getting ko'd.

 

Apparently, Jeffrey's back molar tooth was broken by Donaire's punch.

Basically, he doesn't try to outbox his opponents and eventually get the KO. He wants to end the fight with one punch, which is near impossible now that everyone knows his game.

 

This is getting tiring. Cuban doesn't get his way, the decision and you go out of your way to hate. I can understand you pro Cuban agenda but keep the fanboyism in the appropriate threads and try to at least pretend to be objective otherwise. Some of you guys are trying your damnedest to make Cuban haters out of the rest of us with this crap. I suggest you knock off the blind hate or it is coming back at your guys 10 fold cuz you are out numbered.

 

Its there, its just not as effective as when he was fighting the smaller guys... but it is there just ask mathebula or vazquez

 

His left hook is still there but he's becoming a raging bull throwing very disorganized and from every angle.He caught Math with a monster one but after that the African kept his glove high enough to prevent it from happening again while Nonito kept swinging like he was taught at Garcias gym.
I remember Lennox Lewis after the Tua's fight saying; you have to bring more than a left hook to beat me.If Nonito fights someone like Moreno( I ain't talking rigondeaux ok?) and comes swinging like that he could be up for a long night, same with Mares. I haven't seen much of Nishioka.
Is nonitos power still a factor, yes. But he's fighting bigger dudes that can recover better than the little ones and in return he can get hit the day he fights someone with enough pop or outboxed the day he fights an elusive one.

If you don't KO every single opponent Williams and Darchinyan style in the first 4 rounds, you must suck.

Donaire's power has historically been over rated, based on his KO of Darchinyan, and KO's of other limited, and plodding opponents. Yes he has decent power, but it isn't great power. If it was, his KO percentage would be much higher than it is, considering all the bums he has fought at the lower weights. He is not a better puncher than Rigondeaux.

Also, most boxer's KO percentage goes down when they fight better competition.
