There was some mention on the board that Robert Smith the secretary of the BBBoc is in actual fact a key shareholder in boxrec.com could anyone please validate this statement with a source?

I think this will explain the amount of exposure the British boxing scene gets on their main page and the sometimes generous positions held by some British boxers.

    Any help will be appreciated.

    Cheers all

Robert Smith has nothing at al to do with Boxrec. There are no shareholders. The site is British based which explains why the news side of the site is slanted towards British boxing.

Boxrec don't list fights that aren't sanctioned by the appropriate national body - there's a thread on the forum.

As Haye vs Chisora isn't a BBBoC fight....

On the umpteenth thread on here about why BoxRec wasn't listing the Upton Park bill, a poster said that Robert's Smith's wife, Brenda, was a major shareholder in the site.

It was quite clear to me that this was a joke. Apparently a few people didn't take it this way.

The news site is essentially a British news site with only the very occasional international piece. That's why on the BoxRec main page the menu option says 'UK News'.

If you go on holiday abroad, access the site from wherever you are...you'll get a different home page as they're configured differently based on location.

    Hope this helps.

Do you mean the Sauerland fights that are held in Germany under Austrian auspices?

Perhaps because the predominant German authorities have no objection to this - unlike in the Upton Park case.

In fact, I can't think of another occasion where a foreign governing body has staged a card somewhere when the host country's predominant national body has objected.

There might be plenty of examples, mind...I just don't know any.

the board here is a limited company though, so at the end of the day there just another company trying to control the market if you will.

Correct, my mate has pointed out "BoxRec guy" a few times when we've been to fights at the Donny Dome.

A picture of an elderly lady 'orally accommodating' two men. Disgusting. But very, very doubtful that it was posted by someone from the Board or BoxRec to get a thread deleted :rofl

I believe I read ages ago on wiki that it was made and owned by Nazeem Hamed's former lawyer who had no interest in boxing and created it as a match maker tool.
