Why do people always bring up de leon for broner as a reason he cant be great?

floyd had a tough fight with Castillo just like broner had a tough one wit De Leon


and all the fighters listed are atg's............sometime adversity makes you better

 

We shouldnt even be asking weather or not he is going to be a great yet its too ****ing early he hasnt done anything yet

Mainly because De Leon was fighting at a weight he wasn't comfortable at and was noticeably smaller than Broner, yet he was still able to bully Broner. It's one thing when you out muscled and worked by a really strong guy who's bigger than you, but to get beat up and bullied by a guy moving up in weight, who is noticeably smaller than you, is pretty bad.

 

Maybe but keep in mind when Hatton was up and coming he made that list as well before he fought Mayweather.
So even then being rated in the P4P top ten well we kinda did this to ourselves fighters all to often get easily thrown in there and get exposed rather quickly

 

First impressions carry too much weight nowadays. A young kid is supposed to impress his first time on a big stage. Plus the "Mayweather wannabe" label fit with his non-exciting performance.

People rush to judgment. It is unfair to the fighter, the sport, and often the fans. I bashed his performance that night in the RBR, but in no way think it eliminated any chance for greatness. He just had a bad night.

 

hes a world champion at age 22, people seem to think u gotta beat everyone convincingly remember these guys came from nothin so to be a world champion to them is an achievement, if it was that easy to become world champion everyone would be one

 

butt-hurt mexican fans. they know in their heart that Broner is now on a nother level and wouldnt favor PDL in a rematch. and btw that was no robbery, that was a close 10 rounder.

Don't mean anything in the long-run obviously, well except maybe to De Leon.

Broner is being pumped up by HBO, props for that.

 

Close fight is different to a robbery.

The PDL fight was perfect for Broner, it was a gut check, and a reminder that you need more than skill and athletic ability to achive greatness here. It was his first mental test, and Broner didn't fold. THAT is what was most important.

 

i agree he is being held to a tough standard while at the same time doing great things for a young fighter

mmy only critique is im waiting for his comp to go up in skill level

 

ye realistically he could not hit his prime for another 4 years so they gota be careful when matchin him, a loss in that time could make him or break him

Seems too many guys think all wins needs to be spectacular or clear in order to move on.

Sometimes fights like this are necessary for a young fighter to take the gut test, and see where they can improve on. Otherwise, one might end up like Berto (and I don't mean that as negative as it sounds.)

 

Andre Ward had it with Darnel Boone.


They all need it. Berto is an excellent example, Di Bella should of had him in there with a Randall Bailey, or someone like that. Britain's Kell Brook had a great fight with Carson Jones, it wasn't spectacular, but it showed that there's an engine under the gleaming hood, so to speak.
