It will be a catch weight, Lopez deserved the shot, if he can pull out another, similarly brave performance it will be a hell of a fight.

As they should... Golden Boy has both Canelo and Lara under contract. There's no reason to pit (two future stars) them against each other right now. I understand fight fans just want to see the best fights, but they aren't running a business.

I've been hearing such and such is "killing the sport" for over 20 years now. Hasn't happened... boxing isn't going anywhere. If one major company did go down... another one would just replace it.

Canelo and Lara will eventually fight.

    Patience, my internet-age souls.

In the Business vs Sports contest business is winning a little too handily at the moment for my tastes. We never got to see Lopez vs Gamboa when it was a great sounding fight remember.

Patience until more fights don't get made? I don't necessarily mean Canelo here, he is still young and has the big fights ahead of him. But while boxing isn't going anywhere, it is in decline as fans are being turned off by careful matchmaking, too many titles, etc.

    Lopez' management must be mental.

He supposedly entered the ring under 145 for Ortiz?

How much do you think Canelo came in the ring at? I'll bet he rehydrates around 10%.
Unless they somehow beef up Lopez, he could have a 20+ pound weight disadvantage.

Lopez himself (during an interview on TV) said he thought the fight unrealistic, now it's obvious that they have somehow talked him into it.

I hope he doesn't get hurt against Canelo, he's very game but no master of defense, that much weight is insane and the Ginger can swat.
