I like Froch alot but I dont know how he can say that all of his fights were back to back top fights

Pascal - not even a top SMW
Taylor - who was 1-2 in his last 3 fights and now not at SMW again
Dirrell - whos biggest win was Oganov
Kessler - coming off a loss beats Froch (was a top level fight)
Abraham coming off a loss and not a top SMW and who was his big MW win?
Johnson - people forget that Johnson was a SMW journeyman and was something like 0-5 in his last 5 world title fights and lost to Sheika who Calzaghe beat, yet he comments on Calzaghe
Ward - who beat Froch (was a top level fight)
Bute - Frochs biggest win (was a top level fight)

I dont see that, that is more top level fights one after the other than Calzaghe beating Lacy (top level fight), Bika, Manfredo, Kessler (top level fight), Hopkins (top level fight), Jones at the time considered top level but thought different as history has gone on.

Look at Hamed fighting Kelly, Vasquez, McCullough, Ingle, Soto, Bungu except for maybe Ingle at the time the others were all big fights one after the other

actually i read that interview and there aren't enough quotes from froch in op. he came across as a lot more deluded and bitter in the whole article.

shame as he is an amazing fighter but does himself no favours

I very much like Froch as a fighter, he's been in some entertaining fights, but no way is he more entertaining than Benn was.

Lacy's reputation on these shore was pretty much based on the farcical, referee assisted beating he inflicted on a past prime Reid. He was ****. Admit it. Yes there is an element of revisionism when our American cousins ridicule him, but he wasn't a 'top level' fighter.

I notice you don't have a lot to say for the Manfredo Jr fight either.

Furthermore whilst the Hopkins victory is a very good one, he was fighting a 43 year old man. One who go to register a few more creditable victories, but nevertheless a 43 year old all the same.

As for your assertion that Roy Jones Jr was at the time 'considered top level':

I'm sorry, but that is total and utter rubbish.

Jones was seen as shot before the fight and seen as shot after the fight. He was not considered a live fighter and that included even by Calzaghe himself who wrote him off as totally shot in his own book years earlier.

Calzaghe is not far off being in the same boat as froch. To me calzaghe was never a 'star'. He didnt cross over to the mainstream.

Joe Calzaghe was ranked P4P Number 2 when he retired.

Still doesnt change the fact he was not cross over star like Hatton or Naz was. Calzaghe wasnt a draw.

I have made a valid credible point. David Haye has never disrespectfully compared himself to past fighters, and especially past great British fighters. I think it is highly disrespectful, the whole concept of stating that you are better than retired past great fighters its just plain wrong. Other fighters have done it in the past, but with tongue and cheek! Carl Froch is almost passive towards what these other fighters have done.

In a sport where there is no real biometer for performances, like in Athletics, or Swimming or cycling. In boxing it just opinion until you actually fight these guys. And Chris Eubank is retired and well into his 40's, Nigel Benn is retired and well into his 40's, and the same for Steve Collin's.

Why the **** is he so concerned about dropping these guys names, they are retired. Worry about fighters in you're own era, and if Carl Froch wants to start disrespecting the old school..?

There is a 48 year old boxer, called Bernard Hopkins.

He will school his ass, even at this stage in his career! Worse than Andre Ward did!

He was more of a cross over star than Carl Froch.

Nearly lost against Taylor, lost against Dirrell, lost against Kessler, lost against Ward. It took him until a couple of months ago to actually take a title away from a champion. Pascal (vacant WBC) and Abraham (vacant WBC) which he'd lost against Kessler. One win against the untested IBF champion and he's the dogs bollocks again!
