Different approach inside the ring. While they're both fast and aggressive, Duran tended to favor situations where the fight was in the trenches and crank up hooks with both hands. Pac liked to stay at mid range and fire straight left hands down the pike.

Different image projected, too. Duran played the role of the homicidal, borderline psychopathic assassin who would just as soon punch you in the throat as look at you, while Pac projects the image of speedy Bruce Lee style martial artist, which I think helped him to capture the imagine of the mainstream viewing audience. With the advent of MMA and its increase in popularity, it gave casuals in the West a figure they could identify with.

So they're actually quite different from one another, if you think about it.

meh. very differents styles. Maybe Durans beard is more intimidating...more importantly there is no quitting in Pac.

Duran's overrated defense is better than Pacquiao's. Offense Pacquiao > Duran. Mental makeup Pacquiao > Duran.
    Both are overrated.

I don't really see it. Yes, Pacman is as active as Duran was at 135 but he isn't even close defensively or in the pocket...

I wasn't born yet during duran\s time but I've seen his past fights on youtube and The only similarity I see is that both love to fight. Two totally different styles and set of skills.

    Skill wise - Duran edges
Accomplishment wise - Pacquiao by a fair margin
